MORE cha-cha-changes with CBS

people want the product not the server.

That logic, and 1.99, will buy you a tall iced coffee at McDonald's.

CC is killing radio with that type of short-term thinking, and now CBS is following right behind.

My personal MP3 player gives me the product without the server, and WITHOUT THE COMMERCIALS.

Soon, there will be nothing to differentiate radio from people's ipods except the commercials. Hmmm, what do you think they'll choose?

Talk radio....there aint no such thing as a Brown Eyed Girl topic that can downloaded for personal consumption. Advantage KFWhyEye & KT'R.

With CBS following in Clear Channels footsteps, I have to wonder when they'll cut even more jobs. I've heard now that this last round was actually the 3rd time since February they've show people the door. Apparently, the second time, positions were eliminated that weren’t as public as this last round. Speaking of which, has anyone seen or heard anything about Mojo or the other people who were let go?

you sooooo right. radio is now ruined!!! question: do you go to mcdonalds cuz you like the server?? cc has been running w/o jocks across america and they've suffered no ratings attrition. people want the product not the server.

You're comparing something that people eat to something that people listen to. Big difference in my mind. I think what were trying to convey here is that when everything is going right with a morning show like Kool had it was because of the talent that each of them brought to the show each morning. Now to suddenly shake it up again really makes no sense in most minds. I'm saying that it's crap like this that people are indeed getting sick of seeing/hearing changes all the time, most would like to say yeah everyday for 20+ years I drove into work listening to this great morning show with Tom, Maria, John and Mojo it made my day that much nicer. Unfortunately, you can now say yeah I drove into work for 7 months listening to this great new morning show on Kool. That's sad people. Radio needs to be more secure and long lasting and it's too late now. Go satellite its way better and more secure!

The product here was the talent between each of them on a morning show that people enjoyed listening to on their way into work or whatever, not the damn songs that were played! You can get that product anytime, but to try and get the chemistry is a different story. So if I want breakfast at McDonalds I can get that from lets say 5am-10am, but if there is no more eggs that come with it, then guess what I'm going somewhere else. So if you want we can talk about product this way. And to be honest with you if the server was good looking you still just might go there and order something! Now, there's a new topic for this thread. LOL

The poster who compared radio to McDonald's must be a corporate suit. That's the kind of commodity-only mentality that no radio talent would ever express.

You want proof?

Take a look at KNIX. Just a year or so ago they had Tim & Willy in AM drive and Steve Goddard in PM drive. Talented jocks with followings. KNIX also had respectable ratings. Now they're gone (both the personalities and the ratings). Nothing personal against Ben & Matt or whomever is in the PM slot now, but people apparently have flipped the dial. Personalities do matter.

The bean-counters will be the ruin of us all.

Goddard was on-air at KNIX for this last, dismal book so it must be about Tim and Willy.
I wonder if they're looking out of market, yet, or are still holding on to the hope of scoring something here in town. Would still enjoy the possibility of hearing them on news/talk.

that 'logic' is called satellite radio. its about advertisers...free radio has 'em. ppm proves it SHUT THE PIE HOLE AND PLAY THE HITS. that's my 1.99 tip of the day.
