More change at WWBA / Genesis

Neal Boortz now out from 10a-Noon, and "El Jeffe" aka Dro Silva goes to
three (3) hours with NEXT (top 5 stories of the day). This will chase away
the remaining listeners!

Also, Genesis drops ESPN format in Melbourne, but retains ownership.
Bruce Maduri is firmly in charge, if not "in sync".

It is possible that this is a stunt... Boortz is off this week. They have done this before when Boortz was off. Boortz is not back next week, then it's possible its permanent. The key is are there any promos for this "show" in other day parts?

Actually, Boortz is in London this week, and I believe he is doing his show on location for most of the week. His colleague Stephanie Miller has accompanied him on that same trip abroad, and she is doing her show three of five days this week. Tomorrow both of them will be preparing for a panel in London, so I can imagine if Boortz is a best-of tomorrow.

Caught it today..

It's LOCAL... it's Live.

With any luck it will get better.

I am VERY happy that they have made the move to LOCAL programing.

Dru... You have my ear. THANK YOU!

They've been phasing Boortz out slowly for the past year at least. Cutting an hour here, 30 minutes there, etc.

Boortz's name and picture are off the website. Bad move, WWBA. Couldn't it have been Dennis Miller and his unlistenable radio show? Couldn't it have been the leper-con?

Guess I will have to catch the Boortz stream on WDBO (which is a better station anyway).

I agree.

I like Neal too.

Mr. Miller's show should be called "Here's talking down to you."

But... It is my bet Mr. Silva want's afternoos off.

But again.... I am THRILLED to have live and local....

In Orlando Boortz is the yop rated talk show. His Tapscans are even higher than Rush and Hannity. He is part of the reason WDBO pulls the consistent numbers over 50KW 540 WFLF.

Not at 9:00 a.m. on 1040, apparently.

Mark Larsen was on this a.m. and said ratings drop considerably but pick up with O'Reilly afterwards.
He called Boortz's show, which relies on his tax book and his plane, etc., boring.

Neil Boortz has always been my favorite talk show host. He is certainly the most entertaining. And I think his show is certainly much better than the bigger names (Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc.). Also, his show typically pulls better ratings than those in the Southern markets where he is based. I enjoy Neil because he's funny and because he doesn't just spout the same right wing republican lines over and over. Also, he isn't a buffoon who is full of himself like Rush. (I've always hated Rush and thought he was a self righteous clown).

Overall, my favorite national talk shows are Neil Boortz, Bill O'Reilly, Brian and the Judge, and Alan Colmes. Also, I'm not that crazy about Dennis Miller, but he isn't too bad. I prefer him over Beck, Rush or Hannity.

Dittos, man. The station is sounding a lot better.

One of the callers who just on - one who calls Mark Larsen frequently - exclaimed, "This is real radio again!"

Finally, live and local talk.

Too bad the smug incumbents over at the blowtorches (thanks to monopolistic owners) can't do anything but fill their programming with shows off the satellite, and bemoan "that people don't listen to radio anymore."

In my opinion, the reason they have lower ratings with Boortz is that they only carried half the show. The last hour was always the best and they havent carried it in a long time. They dont carry the entire Dennis Miller show either. I understand dropping Paul Harvey. He was good, but is just too old now. And Dave Ramsey... like listening to a Saturday AM informercial, over and over again. How many times can someone be told it's dumb to run up your credit cards. I'm sure the business model he has makes lots of money for the stations that carry him. Dro would be better doing afternoon drive. Shayna being back is a plus though.

Dave Ramsey practically self-syndicated his own radio show! That is sick!

Kudos to WWBA for bringing back Shayna Lance. I've always liked her. I guess her latest business venture didn't work out or she's using WWBA as double duty.

Good points by all on syndication vs. LAL. I do agree with Boortz's ratings being in the tank because of his truncated program hours. People might as well keep it on Beck. If they had kept him on full time and tried pushing back Miller's hours, I would have liked that better. But...you can't please everyone. I'll have to give Silva more of a chance. It's not that I don't like him, I think he's fresh, but I just really like Boortz's show.

It's a shame that Larsen (who is a fave of mine along with Boortz) has such a low opinion of Boortz. Neal must have rubbed him the wrong way at a book signing.

These guys at WWBA are acting like a music station does when it flips format. Trashing what was on before and making negative comments. Only time will tell. My truck radio receives 580 in Orlando Daytona pretty good. The slop from 570's sidebands causes some interference though. So, I can still listen to Boortz if I want to if I'm out and about. This would be time for WHNZ to pick him up cause they already carry the guy that comes on after him in Atlanta on WSB, Clark Howard.

Boortz and Howard are a winning combo in Orlando. I'd like to see them on the same station here with both having their full programs. And I always tune both of them in whenever I'm doing business in the Orlando area.

WWBA / Gone

wwba is an abortion. i actually took it off my radio preset

no continuity in programming. i prefer to hear a hosts entire show.

thank goodness i can pick up 580 from orlando and get boortz

now if only paul harvey and his fill-in hosts would retire

even mark larsen is getting old with his too-long ranting on a subject and reading the newspaper

i don't want to hear about a subject for 20 minutes

Carrying Boortz followed by Clark Howard LIVE (not played back at some weird hour) would be a grand slam on 1250 WHNZ. And with the Rays having a really good year, I'd expect the numbers for WHNZ to be much higher when we see the Spring and Summer books. I agree with the comments that WWBA is really hurting themselves by breaking up shows and not carrying them in their entirety.
