More Changes At WGSO

A new month and more changes at WGSO, a station that obviously can't get things right.

Monday and Tuesday afternoon host Walt Bennetti is gone after 3 months.

CJ and Ruben join WGSO for a Tuesday afternoon business show. The CJ is former Q93 and WBOK Black Talk Host CJ Morgan. I have no idea who Ruben is or what qualifies him or CJ to talk about business. But hey, they are a lot of so-called "experts" on 990. Jeff Crouere has made a career of hyping himself as a "political expert".

Chad Garrison joins WGSO for a Thursday afternoon political show. Chad is another self-proclaimed "political expert" that no one except WGSO managment has ever heard of.

Is it any wonder that this station can't get it together?

Let's see there's a new studio on Carondelet St. (back in N.O. where it belongs), and now they will have to change their overnight(Joey Reynolds being bumped on WOR for Coast-to-Coast-on WRNO in N.O.) so maybe "YAT" music could be on overnights at least.

VERY interesting concept. Actually our 4th floor studios at 332 Carondelet St. during the blowtorch days of WTIX were in the building on the corner of Carondelet & Union. The building next door in the "down number" addresses (going away from Canal Street) was Western Union, which is the only one that could be 330 Carondelet. Still close enough to the glory days next door though. But my feeling is that 990 AM could be picked up for a song. Then give it the WYAT calls again and put it that close to the real MIGHTY 690, and I would bet that little AM station with its history and fondly-recalled reputation would beat a few FMs that are struggling for 1's in ARB. In fact if it were for for sale, I bet $400-$500,000 would be tops and I might consider it with other investors that I know would be interested. That's how strongly I feel about the 990 frequency, the WYAT calls, the station's history, and how corporate radio sucks and is turning off listeners daily and how corporate clusters are going to collapse real soon because they're losing money hand over fist.

Actually, the original studios at 332, 4th floor, are still vacant (since 1989) from my knowledge, and from my visit there a few months ago on a sentimental journey. Unless it rented recently, nobody has occupied that floor in almost 20 years and I think it's still vacant. Still has our green TIX wallpaper up!

Nice checking in with you guys again.

Actually I think 990 could be bought for $200-$250,000. That's all it's worth to the present owners. If the owners are interested we'll talk.

Upon further review, if you don't know what they paid for it or who they are, how can you say

"Actually I think 990 could be bought for $200-$250,000. That's all it's worth to the present owners."

How do you know "it's worth to the present owners"?

Do you know what it's billing? Do you know why they own it? Do you know how many owners there are?

Don't know what they are billing but it's public record on the owners and what they paid for it

Ownership: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/cdbs...cct=0&appn=101346711&fac_num=52433&formid=322

The purchase was $1 Million roughly

I agree with the oldie king in the fact that some of the AM stations in New Orleans need a good retweaking to make them better radio stations, WGSO has a habit of changing people roughly every 6 months not allowing for a building of support; WODT 1280 is repeater radio to the nth degree in my opinion.

It would appear that not a dime has been spent on maintenance or upkeep.

The tower on top of the Jung,Clarion (insert current name here) hotel is in serious need of painting or possibly structural enhancement so it can stay up a few more decades, assuming the transmitter is allowed to stay on the roof for the forseeable future.

That uncertainty along with the damage the last few owners have done to the dial position have certainly devalued it well below what it sold for in 2007.
