More changes at WZON

Pat LaMarche announced today that she is leaving The Pulse Morning Show on WZON. Not sure what their plans are but it will be interesting to see who they bring next.

That's assuming she'll be replaced at all. I can't imagine The Pulse is raking in serious bucks for Stephen King. BTW, her last day is Friday.

I don't think it needs to rake in serious bucks for King, he just can't loose money on it. I'm sure all his talk shows are 100% barter, so what's he got? Salary and the electric bill. It will be interesting to see if they replace her at all, I question how good Stephen King's piggy bank is doing these days.

Did she leave on her own or was she asked to split? Didn't hear Cookson on the show Friday morning which makes me wonder if there was a big blowup. They didn't sound as though they worked well together.

Don Cookson was on the Rock & Roll Morning show with me on WKIT. Pat had a large amount of listeners in the Pulse Studio to say goodbye and wish her well in her next adventure. Mark "the Shark" Young is away on vacation so I invited Don to come on the show and let Pat do her thing..sorry, no blowup...no drama. We're sorry to see Pat leave us.

I think she left because King is about to tank the format.

King's piggybank?

Ha...it's like the story about the farmer who won a BIG jackpot in the lottery.

"Wat yer gonna do now Edgar?"

"I guess I'll keep the farm going til my money runs out." ;D

I'd hate to see WZON's lib-talk format get dumped. That'll leave no alternative to right-wing talk in all of Maine . . . a state that is slowly but surely becoming more liberal politically and socially.

I still think Stephen King would have made more money with 101.3 if he had boosted the station's power output so that it would have better signal coverage on the coast. Hancock County is a bastion of progressivism.

Relax Matrix ;D http://www.wzonthepulse.com/ just a change of address

And according to the home page, they now have holiday music on 103.1 FM with the regular programming on AM 620. However it goes on to state, "in the meantime we are working on a BIG surprise that we will reveal after Christmas."

Oops, I guess this was already being discussed in another thread. Sorry for the double post about the same topic.

Radio is a business. Liberal talk has been a failure no matter where it's been tried. Don't let the recent results in the election make you believe all of a sudden progressive talk radio is in..because its not.

As long as Stephen King wants it on in some form or other, it'll work in Bangor.

Define "work in Bangor." Large ratings? Pull commercial stop sets? Now if Stephen King wants it as a "tax writeoff", sure that'll work. But standing on it's own two feet and being run as a profitable enterprise? I think not.

Unoubtedly not. It won't make money. But if that's what he wants, then it'll stay on.

From the station's site

http://wezq-fm.com/new-bangor-sports-radio-station-website-to-launch-jan-1/

>>The new format includes a local morning drive-time show hosted by Dale Duff and Clem LaBree, plus live, local play-by-play of high school games and the latest news from area college programs as well as the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Major League Baseball, the NBA and NCAA March Madness. The station will also serve as the flagship station for high school basketball tournament week this February.
