More changes on the way at TQR

With the recent departure of TQR PD John Roberts, more news now that Jeff Roper's contract will not
be renewed in the Fall. This from a number of CC sources. Roper has not produced tangible results since taking over the morning show from Brother Bill and Aunt Eloise.
Roper finished in the top 5 25-54 a couple of times prior to PPM arriving in the Triad. Since then TQR's morning show has never been better than 9th or 10th place in both 25-54 and 18-49 persons.
Many, including a number of folks on this board had hailed Roper as the saviour of TQR upon his arrival.
 
Let me guess what brought about all these changes:

Heff Roper came here from Greenwood, SC where he and his wife had formed Big Fish Broadcasting. They bought several stations including 94 FM in the Greedwood sc market and an AM station in Belton Sc back in mis 2008. By mid/end of 2009, they fled the area and all the stations went dark and bankrupt! Jeff had been programming them and doing the morning show. Jeff daddy Jack Roper is a longtime WSPA-tv 7 Spartanburg, SC weatherman talk show host. Jeff has a repuation in upstate SC of being VERY cocky, etc. Why did WTQR bring him here???????

I feel sorry for the poor girl who is Jeff`s co-host on WTQR-FM. He yalks over her constantly and is very cocky on air.

Her name is Angie Ward, and if CC could, they'd probably blame her for Roper's bad showing! :mad:
 
I wonder if Jeff will come back to Columbia,SC to work for Miller's new country station?
 
Jeff might go back to Columbia, but I bet that he will steer clear of the Greenwood, SC market-LOL!! Poor Angie Ward needs some relief at WTQR-FM!!! Maybe Max McGann would be good in the mornings for WTQR. He is MUCH better than Jeff Roper-LOL!!!
 
I use to work with Jeff in Columbia,SC at WCOS he was a ok guy I had no problems with him.
 
Angie's a long time personality in the market and at TQR. She's well liked and very involved in the community. If they're smart, they'll let him go and keep her. Somebody else would snap her up quickly.

I got a nice letter from her when 94.5 dropped classic country. She said she really supported the idea but it didn't work.
 
Clear Channel needs more than a new program director! CC needs a real house cleaning but not necessarily on the programming side. There aren't to many people on the programming side but what few they have need to be given a shot of B-12 or something to get them "energized". The biggest probems at CC GSO starts in the front office where the 12 step program needs to be increased to include step 13 which is broadcast management.
 
Amen! Cheap...er ahh Clear Channel has become the revolving door of the industry, and has ruined radio completely for everyone... I'm starting to think maybe they had something to do with the development of the iPod. Gave Apple the idea so to speak. ;D
