more changes to Jamn 94.5

They've been doing "Friday Night Bomb" for a long time. Fridays they start around 5pm.
On a side note, but on the same subject. How did Chubby Chubb get to be on Jamn 94.5? I'm happy to hear that he is on a (real) radio station now.
I go on Clear Channel website as well as (KISS 108) and Jamn 94.5) websites as well, I saw nothing on their Job page regarding Hiring of Rado Hosts. How did he get that job?
I'd love to have a chance to work there again, and this time get paid.
That's not fair.
Big Named Radio Hosts (example: Peables, Melissa, Baltizar...) gets hired just like nothing, makes it look so easy, and then those of us who are looking for jobs, and no one ever gvive us hard working people a chance. it's not fair!!

Well, the reason they were hired is because they are good at what they do. Do you have a ratings track record? You need that to get on the air in a major market, unless you're really lucky.

Most of the time, by the time a radio job is posted, it's been filled. EEO working well.

How long have you been a Mixshow DJ?
What was your last mixtape, and when was it released?
Which clubs do you spin at? How many years have you been working those venues?
When was the last time you sent a mixtape/demo/resume to the radio station?
Made a phone call?
Sent an email?

These gigs do not fall into your lap ---- work your tail off, do the legwork and GO GET IT. It CAN be done.

A-MEN! As a club DJ here in Boston, I know what this is..I have personal fellow DJ friends who started out mixing at local spots and one of them (DJ Voyage) who actually just got a late night mixshow on Jam'n Sat nights recently. It CAN be done Lauro, but no one's going to chase you down...Chubby Chubb has been a heavy hitter (pun intended) and his resume speaks for itself. I have a tape of him on a hip hop show from WERS back in 1999 or so tearing it up. He was also on WBOT Hot 97.7 for years. Done many clubs and promos over the years in Boston. So the guy has lots of stuff on his resume, it speaks for itself. So don't get mad that is isn't fair, step your game up and go for it!!

...or move and work your way up...I worked in Fayetteville NC, Hunstville & Dothan AL, Tallahassee FL & Memphis TN before getting a shot at my first major market gig in Boston.

The 5 PM traffic jam has been extended from 4:45-5:30 soon after Roy Barboza started mixing on Hot 96.9. I am thinking that we will see lots more changes coming to JAMN. Most of these changes will be positive though. They have stepped up their music in the last few months as well

The amount of throwbacks being played today is almost as high as Hot 96.9. I know it's Throwback Thursday, but still. They must be feeling the pain.

Looking on their playlist it READS that they've recently just played Feel the Tide, Babel and Dont Awake My Soul by Mumford and Sons. I also saw something that said they played Fearless by Taylor Swift the other day..I'm in CT so I'm not listening just monitoring. Is this true?! and if so are they about to abandon the rhythmic format? I see they're getting seriously closed in on by Hot 96.9 but this is pretty drastic.

wth mumford and sons? cars must have been driving off the road when that came on lol!!

Those songs are probably the iheart music insert they use while the terrestrial station is on commercial break. My guess is because Jam'n uses the "hit music" moniker the automation doesn't know the difference.

Trock sounds right on this. I agree as well

Yea Clear Channel is too large a corporation I dont think it really understands just how urban the Boston area is, i Mean Metro Boston at least..its very dense. Yea the region is only 7.5% black but thats higher than the 6% we were at when Hot 97.7 came about and they lasted 6 years with a crappy signal poor jocks and lack of localization. You also should figure the region is about 10% Latino, many of whom are Dominican and Puerto Rican and listen to Black Hip Hop. ON top of that there's a lot of more "ethnic whites" here (Portugese and Brazilian). Alsot he station would do well just off of pure strength of numbers. There are so many people here. There are about 800,000 black and latinos in the greater Boston area and about 300-350 blacks. They might not do better than they are now but certainly not worse. However since the 1980s Massachusetts has grown its black population as a share of the population very quickly compared to the nation as a whole (about twice the rate actually). So definitely in another 10 years. Although it would be a wise decision considering WBQT has gone from virtually nothing at the beginning of 2012 (it didn't exist) and Jamn was at a little below a 6 I beleive. Now Jamn is a 4 and Hot is 2.7. They may both be in the 3's by the end of April. Jamn should just go WZMX they regularly bank 7's and 8's. Their Urban(rhythmic) style is perfect for Southern New England. Boston is by no means a Philly or B'More or even a New York when it comes to urban culture or an Atlanta of black culture but its certainly isn't a Portland, Seattle, Austin, Denver or OKC. This is an urban environment and the people want an URBAN(rhythmic) station. I dont think the Steve Harvey Show could work here or any Rickey Smiley but a show like the Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 would KILL in this market. Urban AC is simply too difficult to sell here a Mainstream Urban with a little pop-tinge would be great.

Well said. If Urban would be such a successful format here in Boston, than WBQT would have done that from the very beginning especially that Pebbles is hosting mornings there.
