Click the link and see for yourself. Looks like Doug is leaving the WBOW morning show and from the comment made it looks like he might also be out as GM... it wishes him well on his future endeavors.

Now before everyone starts throwing their jokes around... if the guy has stepped down, that's one thing. If he is losing his job, that's another. No matter your opinion of what he did while he was there, this is a terrible time to be put out of a job for anyone... be gentle.

The talk around Terre Haute is that he's leaving on his on own terms, however not totaly out all together. It's been stated that Doug is still going to be doing "other things" with in the company. I haven't heard who's the new G.M. With all the lay-offs that have taken place this might be a good opportunity to pick-up someone who has experience and radio knowledge since the fireing of Brian Thomas and Ron Mott. Not sure who's next on the chopping block?

Well if the new morning show doesn't work, one would think Adam Michaels and Julie would be next. I imagine they don't pay Adam much, but I would bet Julie makes quite a bit.

As far as the new GM goes...I hear they are going back to the well. It is someone that is still in the building and has done the job before. The place was a joke when he ran it then and I don't see any changes taking place this time either.

looks like adam and julie will have to step up their game and talk enough for three people when there is only 2 now. Gee.. will those two have enough hot air ::)

did anyone notice that they dont seem to have any station trucks anymore? word has it that they couldnt find anyone to trade a lease with them like dorsett did. maybe because in order to trade you need to have listeners.

You know, I hate that every now and again, I allow one of my colleagues to convince me "I need to check out radio-info... they're bashing me on radio-info..." etc... As far as I'm concerned, talk is just that, talk. And considering the sources, well, I'm not terribly hurt; obviously, I mean a lot more to most of you than you mean to me. Why else would you be listening to my station 24 hours a day? I am however so very pleased that every one of the stations you work at allow you to keep a radio on at all times, and that you choose to lock it onto 102.7. I'm also very impressed that you can juggle working the cash register, monitoring the bathroom cleaning schedule, and prevent fuel pump drive-offs while notating criticisms of my station. You are all truly gifted.

Yes, you can "trash" me and my station all you wish. As I've said before, the only criticism I take into consideration is that of my real listeners, and so far, we've had a resounding amount of positive response to the new 102.7 WBOW. In hindsight, I regret not dedicating our first show to clarifying to our "listeners" what our new format was. It's a little more upbeat than your typical AC, but AC nonetheless, by the way. Silly me, I assumed that those in the radio industry (or those burned by the local radio industry) would be able to pick up on that little tidbit. And as far as the listeners go, I assumed they would either like or dislike the music, end of discussion. To that end, I have decided to spend all of next week teaching listeners the important things like formatics, clocks, music scheduling programs, industry jargon, music research techniques, how the automation system works... all the topics listeners really want to hear about, instead of that pesky music.

But the real reason I'm responding to this ridiculous thread isn't because of all your issues and riff-raff, it's because of buttonpusher's last comment. And by the way, reviewing your last couple of posts, I've formed my own opinion as to why you call yourself "buttonpusher", but I'm certain if you keep up the good work, they might promote you to filling in on a voice-tracked overnight Sunday show eventually. Just my opinion; I could be wrong. Anyhow, the whole station vehicle comment - that's just you being a whiny little b***h spreading rumors and speculation. And that really "pushes my buttons". The vehicles are gone because we're looking at purchasing a new vehicle, in addition to having the old "B-Van" re-wrapped, because God forbid, we let that blue monster sit outside any longer bearing the old logo, for fear some loser on the internet might take the time out of his very important day to blog about it.

Talk all you want, vent if you must. It's yours and everyone elses right to verbalize your opinions. But if you're going to make a statement regarding our financials or internal matters, you better get your facts straight and stop talking out of your ass. Ultimately, YOU and those like you are the reason more and more stations across the country are going automated and/or airing syndicated programming in key dayparts. You really care about radio? Really want to make a difference in local radio? Discuss programming philosophies? [email protected] or 812-242-5025. That's my direct line. Hit me up anytime, let's talk.

If not, that's fine too. We'll talk the next time I fill up my tank...

We'll find out how well it shakes out later this year when the Spring book is released, won't we?

If WBOW-FM is top 5 in any daypart or demo, I think a lot of posters will be eating crow.

I encourage you, Adam, to keep our feet to the fire.

I believe Sketch B. got this advice from me on this board when he worked at Crossroads:

"Don't read the boards."

----
I hate to break it to ya, but Crossroads isn't known for their stellar results in the past. You're going to have to work really hard to overcome that, both among the listening public, and especially among those who lurk here. And until you do, you'll be reading a lot of armchair quarterbacking about the job you're doing.

If you can live with that, then be my guest to read regularly and partake of discussion. But the talk on here is overwhelmingly negative, and I often find it discouraging. But I like to know what's going on in other markets around the state, so I read, and post often.

If you're a bigger man than I am, good for you, and God bless.

(For whatever its worth, I don't think any clerks at 500 Express on Ohio Street listen to WBOW-FM. Good place to spend a Sunday afternoon, though. Fair wage.)

Let's give WBOW a book or two to see how it does. I know it's always a popular topic of discussion this board. Who doesn't need a little Delilah in their life? The Can't Smile Without You was a nice last song for Doug. A true GM always gives a plug on their last break! I always say go out on your last break, being who you are. Good luck Doug with the Edge Marketing endeavor.

If WBOW stands a chance it's going to have to pull in evening numbers where WTHI and WMGI don't, and to do that they need to promote the heck out of Delilah, and they don't. Why?

So let's take this a little at a time shall we?

Working at the gas station across the street, that would be the people who use to work at Crossroads. They were either fired to save money or they quit because they were tired of having to hold their checks for a few days because they wouldn't clear. Deny that if you must but more than one will tell you that it's true.

I think that most of us here on this board don't listen 24/7. Not at all possible now is it? So it just shows what little it takes for all of these people to pick up on the various problems. If you want to educate all of "us" on formatics and the like, I look forward to hearing you quote the Dial-Global play book, there might be something interesting in that. No on there really knows programing and that has been proven by the lack of success over the past couple of years. The only people that had any knowledge in the programing department are gone. Bryan Thomas and to a lesser extent Ron Mott. They were run off by Doug and a few other "smart ones" that were once there. If there was anyone there who knew what they were doing you wouldn't have to call in Dial.

Since there are probably only about 7 people left working there total you would think that there might be enough money to buy a new truck but I doubt it. With spots going for about a "dollar a holler" I doubt that they have enough money for that. I notice that even though you call this information B***S**** you dont deny the general facts. They were trades and now no one wants to trade.

Look, personally I wish you well. I think everyone has been at a bad operation at one time or another and that happens. Then you move on and hopefully do better. The good response from listeners is no real suprise. Those who like it will sing your praises those who dont will just leave. The problem is getting new people to check the station out and that wont happen because no one knows you are there. You are depending on word of mouth. Not enough mouths. They gave up checking you out because they have been burned and disapointed so many times before.

As with all things the book will tell the story in the end. But of course there are those at Crossroads who think Arbitron has it out for them and no matter what the book says they are certain that it's wrong and they are right.

Someone once said to me that if Crossroads really wants to beat the 800lb gorilla down the street then you should buy them, because that's the only way you will be able to bring them down.

See you at the end of the summer when the book gets back.

I am a loyal MMGI Listener and I live way outside the proposed listening area... Granted I dont listen as much as back in the 90s when Beau Richards and Mike echos where there and they had a Dance Lean... And also the Translator 13 miles away on 100.7 for Bloomingtons WFHB makes DXING WMGI very difficult,,,, I liked WBOW last summer when they were a CHR-hot AC Hybrid,, but thats just me.. no Disrespect and no giving respect to Crossroads, but if a station plays what I like I will tune in,.... I hate Delilah, i think Billy Bush or John Tesh would work better, they do great in Fort Wayne...

I used to work at the former 92.1 the Party,, now on 104.3, and I had it sounding very dance leaned, like the old Mix FM,, but when 104.3 moved to the Former Party format I was shown the door... SHZZ Happens but I still think Dance CHR could and will work in Terre haute,... Mix FM did great as a Dance CHR....

Delilah has never done well at all in Terre Haute. It was on Sunny 95.9 until 2002, then WBOW picked it up when they bought 102.7. She has never been in the Top 5 (persons 12 plus) at night. I have an arbitron book from 2001 and 2004:

P 12 + 7p-12a Spring 2001
1. WMGI (tie)
WZZQ (tie)
3. WTHI
4. WWVR
5. WLEZ (was Light Rock 102.7, but no Delilah)
6. WAXI
7. WACF, WSDM, WWSY all tied (Delilah was on WWSY at time)

P 12 + 7p-12a Fall 2004

1. WMGI
2. WTHI
3. WWVR
4. WWSY
5. WSDM
6. WAXI, WACF
7. WBOW (Delilah was on at this time)

So while Delilah is a nice show and all for an AC station, it never has done well in Terre Haute. It's not real fair to say WBOW is dumb for putting the show on, as it does very well nationally on AC stations, just for some reason not here. Hard to think after only being gone for 4 or 5 years thins will change that much. I personally have gotten into listening to Tom Kent on 95.9 if I'm out and about at night. It's a fun show, with really great music I can have on with my kids in the car, and it doesn't completely bore them ( I did make a deal with them we listen to 95.9 one night, and 100.7 the next).

Let's just say the last few years night time in the valley has belonged to WMGI, along with WTHI and WWVR. Nobody else has been able to do much at all. While I am sure she might be better in certain demographics, I can't find one where she has ever been number one or two. (The last copy of a full book I have is Spring 2007)

As far as the rest if station, the morning show does talk a lot, but I thought when Julie was gone last week, it got a lot better. If Adam can find a way to somewhat control Julie and the length of breaks, and do some more slight adjusting of the music, it could be more tolerable. The Satellite stuff isn't really that bad, I've heard better, but I've also heard worse..(WNDI here in Sullivan always has a bunch of dead air on their Satellite Country format.) I don't think it will rate in the top 5 in Terre Haute, but it won't be 9th (or whatever the B was.)

My Spring 09 Book Predicitions (12+)

1. WTHI 23.2
2. WMGI 14.6
3. WIBQ 7.5
4. WWVR 6.0
5. WAXI 4.6
6. WWSY 3.9
7. WBOW 3.4
8. WMMC 3.0
9. WCBH 2.3
10. WSDM 1.8

That's right, WIBQ becomes the big suprise, and claims the number 3 slot...

So whats the highest rating WCBH ever got in terre Haute, and with what format,,, seeing as it has been everything from CHR to various Hot AC, Soft AC// and Rock CHR formats.... Just curious.. When did they book the highest.. the stations studio is in Mattoon Illinois, but they try to target terre haute and Effingham Illinois... Was they ever a leader in either town, or is their signal just too far away, and lacks local community involment... I miss the old Dance Rhythmic Format of WMGI from 95-97.....

Wow...those are some pretty bold numbers for some. Here are my pics for Spring 09.

12+ Persons

1. WTHI 19.2
2. WMGI 16.6
3. WIBQ 10.1
4. WWVR 6.0
5. WWSY 4.5
6. WAXI 3.3
7. WMMC 2.0
8 WCBH 2.3
9 WBOW 1.4
10. WSDM 1.1

I also believe that WIBQ has a huge book and takes a bite out of the top end of WTHI. River really shouldn't see much movement...if anything I have them way low and they come back with a 8 or 10 share. They really got a bad book last book.

Wow. No one is giving WBOW a chance in hell. Time will tell if the correct choices were made or not. I am looking forward to the Spring numbers. Give Adam Michaels some credit though guys!!! He truly has a passion for the business, and that speaks volumes!

How did these former AC stations do with Women 25-54?

Rowdy, I can't find any book where they did any better than 3rd, and most the were 4th or worse. Generally W 25-54 belongs to WTHI and WMGI, as most dayparts. Go Women 25-49 they dominate even more. What is even more interesting is if you looked at the numbers back in 1999-2001 when there were 2 AC stations, you could have combined the numbers and they still weren't a top 4 station. Back in that time, it was all WTHI, WMGI, WZZQ, and WWVR. You have to wonder when someone is going to get the "testicular fortitude" to bring back the WZZQ format. Both "The Rock 107-5 ZZQ" and "Z-1075" did well with what they did. I enjoyed the Active Rock format more, and it enjoyed a very successful, long run. Z-1075 had some really great numbers before they shut down. They were more of a Rock CHR/Alternative leaning station, if my memory serves.

I can appreciate his passion and love for the business, but nothing is better than experience which he doesn't have. Isn't this his second time around in the programing department? I hope he does well for all who's left at Crossroads but at this stage of the game I would feel much better if the man making the decisions had some proven experience behind him or her. Good Luck Adam.

How much does Adam really get to decide anyway? I would think he gets to do what he is told and I would think that most of that would come from Dial Global. At least I would hope. Why would you pay for them and not do what they say?

Also, it looks like Crossroads continues to do their best to imitate GM without the government money. I don't believe that they are streaming anymore. Looks like the cost of putting 5 stations on the web was a bit too much for their tiny piggy bank.

tic tic tic ... how much time could they have left?

We can't really hate on Crossroads for stopping their streaming....Nobody else in the market is doing it.

I agree with the experience of Adam. He's never really had any success anywhere he has been in Terre Haute. I honestly don't know if he has done any radio outside the market, but he didn't have any luck at 104.3, and must not of impressed the people at Midwest with WMGI, because he wasn't there long, and his first programming effort with WBOW ( The Hits to keep you buzzin) B1027 was a disaster. So while it would be nice for him to finally pull it together and get something right for once and make all of us on here eat some serious crow, it's highly unlikely to happen. So maybe until he actually accomplishes something, he shouldn't be so cocky. I imagine working at the 500 Express across the street would be a much more secure job right now, and probably provides a pay and benefits close to what Crossroads can right now. Plus they got a slushie machine. Can't beat that.
