looks like adam and julie will have to step up their game and talk enough for three people when there is only 2 now. Gee.. will those two have enough hot air :
did anyone notice that they dont seem to have any station trucks anymore? word has it that they couldnt find anyone to trade a lease with them like dorsett did. maybe because in order to trade you need to have listeners.
You know, I hate that every now and again, I allow one of my colleagues to convince me "I need to check out radio-info... they're bashing me on radio-info..." etc... As far as I'm concerned, talk is just that, talk. And considering the sources, well, I'm not terribly hurt; obviously, I mean a lot more to most of you than you mean to me. Why else would you be listening to my station 24 hours a day? I am however so very pleased that every one of the stations you work at allow you to keep a radio on at all times, and that you choose to lock it onto 102.7. I'm also very impressed that you can juggle working the cash register, monitoring the bathroom cleaning schedule, and prevent fuel pump drive-offs while notating criticisms of my station. You are all truly gifted.
Yes, you can "trash" me and my station all you wish. As I've said before, the only criticism I take into consideration is that of my real listeners, and so far, we've had a resounding amount of positive response to the new 102.7 WBOW. In hindsight, I regret not dedicating our first show to clarifying to our "listeners" what our new format was. It's a little more upbeat than your typical AC, but AC nonetheless, by the way. Silly me, I assumed that those in the radio industry (or those burned by the local radio industry) would be able to pick up on that little tidbit. And as far as the listeners go, I assumed they would either like or dislike the music, end of discussion. To that end, I have decided to spend all of next week teaching listeners the important things like formatics, clocks, music scheduling programs, industry jargon, music research techniques, how the automation system works... all the topics listeners really want to hear about, instead of that pesky music.
But the real reason I'm responding to this ridiculous thread isn't because of all your issues and riff-raff, it's because of buttonpusher's last comment. And by the way, reviewing your last couple of posts, I've formed my own opinion as to why you call yourself "buttonpusher", but I'm certain if you keep up the good work, they might promote you to filling in on a voice-tracked overnight Sunday show eventually. Just my opinion; I could be wrong. Anyhow, the whole station vehicle comment - that's just you being a whiny little b***h spreading rumors and speculation. And that really "pushes my buttons". The vehicles are gone because we're looking at purchasing a new vehicle, in addition to having the old "B-Van" re-wrapped, because God forbid, we let that blue monster sit outside any longer bearing the old logo, for fear some loser on the internet might take the time out of his very important day to blog about it.
Talk all you want, vent if you must. It's yours and everyone elses right to verbalize your opinions. But if you're going to make a statement regarding our financials or internal matters, you better get your facts straight and stop talking out of your ass. Ultimately, YOU and those like you are the reason more and more stations across the country are going automated and/or airing syndicated programming in key dayparts. You really care about radio? Really want to make a difference in local radio? Discuss programming philosophies?
[email protected] or 812-242-5025. That's my direct line. Hit me up anytime, let's talk.
If not, that's fine too. We'll talk the next time I fill up my tank...
