More clear channel format changes

Now that lou is no more. What other clear channel stations are on the brink of flipping? WTFX recently got rid of local DJ's and changed to a more alternative rock format.
WQMF seems to be the station that needs the biggest change. SFR plays the same tired list of 200 songs that they played 10 years ago, and they still beat QMF. A tiny #53 market like Louiville doesn't have room for two classic rocks stations with nearly identical playlists. If it was not for Bob and Tom, QMF would have been dead long ago.
Recently, QMF seems to have made some cuts. Mel is gone. So is the request noon hour that has been a staple for years. They actually removed songs from their playlist. They are even simulcasting WFBQ in the evenings.
I have been critical of QMF ever since clear channel took over and switched to classic rock. I would like to see them to switch to an updated version of the old AOR format. New rock, old rock, classic rock, hard rock, soft rock, and deep cuts. I know this would never fly with today's cookie cutter approach to formats. But something needs to be done.

I went on vacation a few weeks ago (and also have been listening to more talk radio anyway) and have noticed some changes at The Fox over the last few weeks since I've been back. I have HD radio and have noticed that Kings of Leon and other alternative bands have been on a lot more lately. Also, the HD-2 channel has been playing 90% hard rock (disturbed, stp, etc). The HD-2 channel used to be a simulcast of HD-1 with a slight delay, but I guess they've tweaked the main station and moved the old format to HD-2. Louisville radio REALLY sucks...more and more every day.

There are DJs (at least in the evening), so are they piped in from out of town? No more Mudd or anyone? I miss the days of Catfish, Tony V, Craven, etc.

I enjoyed Mel alot, but as the song says, she's "Gone Country", and honestly the poor lady was overworked. I'm glad you told us that QMF is playing the same music as FBQ. I wonder if its the Clearchannel brand of rock that's being piped to stations throughout the country. Really WAMZ and 98.1 the Bull in Lexington are doing the same thing at night with the "Blair Garner Show" and "After Midnight" too. I really wonder if this reduction in formats is to save the industry, or to increase profits for wealthy clearchannel stockholders?

Not a format change, but looks like Kiss has a CP for a tower move, and a COL change

NEW SITE (Prospect, KY): http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WZKF&service=FM&status=C&hours=U

OLD SITE (Salem, IN): http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WZKF&service=FM&status=L&hours=U

I think it is wonderful the thriving city of Prospect will finally have a voice so Clear Channel can serve the community and help people. But seriously .....

Will they combine with 100.5 or hang the bays on another tower?

I'm assuming this is sarcasm?

They are hanging the bays on the southeast tower, according to their application. WLGX is on the southwest tower, with no application to move it. So they will have 3 transmitter buildings at that site.

It's probably smart that they are doing it that way. 100.5 and 98.9 are only 1.6 MHz apart. They will likely have to use filters on both to keep them from creating intermodulation between the two. Having them on separate towers will help that.

Still... look for intermodulation to show up around...uh...lets see...100.5 plus 1.6 equals... 102.1. Ouch for the Max!

And lets see, the other one would be uh.... 98.9 minus 1.6 equals...... 97.3! Double ouch for WAMZ!

Why yes, it is sarcasm. If you read those COL changes that verbiage or some variation is used. I find it humorous when it is proclaimed by adding or moving an allocation "insert community here" will now have a voice that it has never had before.

Sarcasm? On this board? Hey Wire Man. (Greg) You crack me up when I visit this place. With Gen-X on a big stick and the engineering changes happening, I can see the Max getting spanked pretty hard too. There is a good game of Radio going on here with some great battles. It's more interesting than it has been in a long time in the River City and I'm lovin' it. Rock on Brothers 'n Sisters! Peace and Love...L

100.5 - .790 = 99.71

DJX already gets walked on out in that area. Guess we can add two more.

Yeah, since 98.9 + .790= 99.69. DJX can't catch a break, can it?

I didn't even think of intermod with 790. If that's an issue with 100.5 then it will be with 98.9.

R.I.P. Radio Ridge :(
They left Radio Ridge years ago...only 97.9 & 1220 remain there now.
Yep, I knew they moved the stick closer to New Albany, but at least it was staying in the same state.
