More Cuts at SNR

Will the last man out turn off the lights: From the website, it looks like Arnie is gone as are the morning news guy who used to be with CNN and one of the Bobs. At least they didn't leave up the old names on the website for a few weeks like FSR did.

Tony Bruno got out when the getting was good.

Sporting News reminds me of a teenage girl that's constantly binging and purging.

As far as on-air personalities gone this time it looks like Arnie Spanier, Bob Stelton & Jerome Jurenevich.

If I remember correctly, I think someone recently mentioned Arnie's contract was up anyway. Right now, their schedule shows Todd Wright covering the 6a-10a EST timeslot and a Tim Brando replay from 4p-7p EST.

I wonder if they will be able to bring anyone in to fill those two weekday shifts, or if they will extend some of the other timeslots to cover some of those 7 hours.

Has anybody come and gone and cone and gone and come and gone on one network as often as Arnie? I'm sure he'll be back at some point. Where is he currently?

SNR is the only alleged network that can fire half of its staff and no one in the industry even realizes or cares about it. What a total disgrace to broadcasting!

Arnie Spanier their biggest personality gone....? Wow....might as well close up shop.

If by "big" you mean in terms of body weight, I think one of David Stein's producers is fatter than Arnie was.

But yes, the man with a voice more irritating than Scott Ferrell's is once again gone from SNR. Unless Ron Barr is willing to pick him up for Sports Byline USA, he is effectively finished as a nationally syndicated host. You can levy the same criticisms at Arnie that you can for Petros & Money and Cowherd (too much East/West Coast bias, doesn't show respect to callers).

I'm just shocked that doing dumb skits like "Powerplay: the exciting new game that's sweeping the nation" and constantly running a soundbite of Arnie going "Ok Laker fan!" didn't draw in the big ratings needed to surpass Freddie Coleman in the arbitrons.

He'll be doing AM drive on SNR affiliate KDUS 1060 in Phoenix starting next Monday. Not his first time here - he was one of the original hosts on XTRA 910's predecessor KNNS/KGME 1360 in the mid '90s.
