More cuts????

ISAIDSO: You and I must have worlked with different Brad Bartons. The One at KRLD was serious about his work and he was serious about weather like the late Harold Taft was on KXAS. Brad didn't put up with stuff when it came to work ,especially during severe weather season or an approaching ice storm. He was a very considerate person to work alongside ofand very knowledgeable. Like "DFW" it appears you are part of the 30 and younger group, who never have truly worked in radio only "computer training wheels powered studios" so talent to you is prefabricated. John Summers has talent, and to last as long as he did where he was is a noteworthy accomplishment. His ratings overall were very good. You probably didnt like KLUV's format becasue it ws too old for you. Well then Lex and Terry and the other low rated syndicated fare is out there for you. John Summers will be greatly missed in the afternoons. I suggest you read about what radio was before 1996. there was talent then. Yes,you do need to read about it.

Don't know if this was caught in the earlier posts in this thread, but another change amidst these, uh, changes:

Mitch Carr is moving from the KLUV morning show to co-anchor the morning news at KRLD. I assume that's what Mark Watkins was doing. (Hell, I remember when Watkins and John Pendolino were doing hourly news cut-ins at KPLX in the 1980s.)

And Jody Dean is now the "stadium voice" for the new Cowboys stadium. Dunham is, well, dun. I think Murphy Martin can finally rest in peace with Jody at the helm.

Credit and thanks to Ed Bark at unclebarky.com, who usually doesn't cover radio.

I used to work with Mark Watkins at KLIF. Good person to work with.

I am indeed out! I will be doing a weekend shift on Saturday and I will continue to voice the Beatle Breakfast show on Sunday morning.

Sorry to hear that, John. Everything I have that's KLUV came from you and Debi.

Kym West was on vacation a couple of weeks ago and then was out sick Wednesday, but Thank the Lord still has her gig! Thanks for all the inquiries...nice to know you guys are paying attention and care enough to ask!

I believe Mark was doing the Afternoon News with Alice Rios, if I am not mistaken.

Huh ??? Can someone please translate this post for me?

And I don't see anyone insulting the listeners here. I know you have made that accusation, but haven't really given us burden of proof.

So, what part of the post did you not understand? (I know you were just setting up for a dig so I will make it easier for you)

and as for the "burden of proof"..

(where was all the "outrage")

..and the many "hanger on fans" of his. Lemmings to the core.

Toledo is closed ,and will reopen in October. Like the Collge grad said, Russ's Lemmings refuse to be detered and flock to his website like he is a messiah. If there was ever a textbook example of sociology and psychiatry it would be RM.People of the past who exhibited the same mannerisms towards fellow humn beings often were diagnosed as sheltered ,and (not a prediction here) did not have a very long life span due to their inner demons of depression. Calling Dr. Phil!!

Normally Observer articles about Russ get 100+ comments very quickly. At the time I'm typing this, there are only 57 comments. Either people just don't care about RMS anymore or his former audience can't be bothered to read and comprehend that many words strung together. ;)

It seems he's crossed everyone he's ever worked with except Trey.
Just give it some time. At some point, even a spineless lackey like Trey will leave him.

Once again, another RM thread brought to you by his die hard lowest common denominator fans. Pure specualtion which fuels his ego and short attention span, plus he's loving to see his name mentioned. Its funny soon as one thread concerning him just about disappears another pops in. HMMM.'Meanwhile back in the real world, commonly refer to as "LIFE" no one at the water cooler, office ,happy hour, grocery store, restaurants bars and weekend barbeques is talking about him, except he himself and a few of his lemmings that post on here. You are singing to each other's choir. So exchange twitter id's ,emails, facebook,. andknock your sox off about him. Let's get him of page 1 of the board once and for all .He 's dead and burried here with no realistic hope of ever being a player in DFW radio ever again. He did it to himself with no one's help. Go have a beer and console yourselves.

to which YOU actaully replied

I just thought I would post since I am one of those "lowest common denominator fans/lemming" so that we could continue to keep this thread alive. Oh and if it gets moved to TIO. I'll start another...the bottom line is that its people like thunderradio, who would like the posts to stop, that actually fuel the fire of said "lowest common denominator fans." Surely he/she could see that being that he can peg where people fall in to society simply because they may listen to a certain radio program.

Of course that's just one Lemming's view

1. WHY do you want to keep these threads going? There's no real point. Usually it's either a debate about whether or not material on his former show is a bit, or a debate that he will / will not return to DFW radio. Keeping any of that going is beating a dead horse.

2. WHY would you post a message to "keep the thread alive" and offer no real meaningful contribution? Dissing thunderradio's suggestion that we let these threads die, is ludicrous. That's merely TR's opinion, one I happen to agree with.

3. Kicking all the old posts to the top of the page just for the hell of it, is borderline to a TOS violation, no?

Everyone needs to realize that Russ IS NOT COMING BACK on radio in DFW!! He is done!!. There is no company that can afford him number one, and number two, he has no audience left. He is done, that is reality!! The advertisers will not support the show or his content. They are affraid to. Russ will now become John Q Public and will have to go through life like the rest of us!!

THANK YOU! This is what I have been saying all along.

Need I go on?? That is just two recent threads... not even touching the 105.3 only and P&K threads... plenty in there too

Jason Sickles, an editor for DallasNews.com spoke with Brad Barton earlier today, and will have an article in Saturdays paper. Should be an interesting read.

Brad posted his own comment on the News message board about his firing.

Jason, As we just finished a brief interview, permit me to write my own story before yours hits the paper tomorrow.
The outpouring of support is so passionate that Brenda and I can hardly speak when reading the lengthening line of comments here. Incredible, gratifying and humbling.
Let me straighten out a few misconceptions: Jody Dean is a born broadcaster who could do news, traffic and weather better than me any day in whatever condition he happened to be. The fact that we no longer work together doesn't diminish my deep professional respect and personal affection for Jody. Neither Gavin Spittle nor Paul Mann nor Brian Purdy nor Kurt Johnson had anything to do with my unceremonious departure. If anything, they probably delayed it as long as they could. To borrow from Cronkite and shout-out to some former co-workers "A crazed bean-counter"opened fire on the high-salary talent pool at CBS Dallas. They did what they had to do and that's that.
Thanks to those giants who hired and groomed me, thanks to the NWS and all the local meteorologists, especially Troy, who inspired me, thanks to a most loyal audience and most of all, thanks to my Southlake church family and God for all I've had and still have. My faith would be a pretty poor umbrella if it didn't hold up in a storm.

All the best to you Brad, Mark and John.

It's a sad day for DFW Radio, particularly at KRLD, with the departure of Brad and Mark. I worked with Mark years
ago in the KLIF/KPLX Newsroom, and he is indeed a true professional. And although I never worked with Brad, the
same applies. He, and his ability to nimbly cover ever-changing Texas weather, will be greatly missed.

To Brad and Mark, good luck. We will miss you both. To Bigby or whoever is GM now, this was a dumb move. You will probably hang on to your job a few months longer, then pay the price.

To John, Good luck to you too. I have enjoyed listening to you.
