More Deal$ For Ryan $eacre$t

I do not understand why everyone is so upset about Ryan Seacrest's success. Has to be a heavy dose of resentment and jealousy.

I am old enough to recall Arthur Godfrey who was a mediocre disk jockey from New Jersey who went on to host a couple of very popular, at the time, national TV shows. There were literally hundreds of DJs just as talented all over America who stayed spinning records on their stations wherever they were.

How about the charming and witty Ed Sullivan?

Then you have Ryans' mentor, in a way, Dick Clark. A good looking personable young man who took a local teenager dance show to national heights. Anybody remember Lloyd Thaxton? Could you honestly say his show in LA was any less appealing? I remember Bob Braun back in Ohio, also a comparable show to Clark's. There must have been countless others in local markets at the time.

The point is that for reasons we can not always predict the right person in the right place gets the gold. And when that person as Seacrest and Clark both were and are is willing to work hard and long hours that success only multiplies. So why not celebrate their fortune and then go back to being the best whatever you have set out to be and enjoy your life. If you aren't then perhaps you aren't in the right line of work and it is time to consider a change.

Upset? Resentful? Jealous? Not hardly. At least not on my part. This is America, land of opportunity and the world's role model for capitalistic gain. If you can make a ton of money, if you can move up on the economic ladder, for cryin' out loud, go for it!
 
I don't think most radio people resent Ryan having all of these gigs, I think most people realize he is around in an era where every job he gets eliminates dozens of other jobs thanks to syndication and consolidation.

Those old DJ's turned game show hosts got jobs because the lazy producers based in LA listened to them on the radio and hired them whenever a new show came along.

Seacrest isn't an extraordinary talent, but a hrd worker who has a huge name thanks to American Idol and is now being used to get rid of dj's on top 40 stations who no longer serve a purpose.
 
It's a done deal Ryan Seacrest will be the VP choice for Barack Obama.
