More expected exits to come at Crawford Broadcasting

<font color=3333ff>Their fledging cluster, rampant with exits on the UAC side will soon see another departure of a morning show as Steve Harvey becomes syndicated out of New York from WBLS. Soul 106.3 has been rumored to pick up Harvey for mornings soon. They recently picked up Michael Baisden's Love Lust and Lies syndicated afternoon drive show as well.

How ironic that while Soul 106.3 is becoming more syndicated, Crawford dropped Chicago legend Doug Banks on Power 92 for a local morning show. Most think that Doug was the anchor for the Urban Contemporary outlet, which since Doug's departure has seen it's lowest numbers since it's debut in 2001. The morning show also saw the departure of their star leader "Stone Pony" DaVante Stone after one year on the air, when an internal memo leaked to the press denouncing the show.

Did I sound Feder like this time? I think I did a good job :D

Crawford is NUTS. Time to bring back Doug Banks.

TJ...didn't this memo also crush Courtney Baby Girl Hicks out as well? She was never let go after that memo leak.

Also.....I like how feder said that Steve Harvey is going to be competing against WGCI, a station "where Harvey once hosted mornings himself"

Harvey hosted mornings? Hardly. Back in the early 90's, didn't GCI sign Harvey and he made it to about 1 morning show and then left them high and dry and took off back to L.A.?<P ID="signature">______________

<font color=3333ff>I loved Steve on WGCi. I think what happened with me is that I was so used to Doug Banks, that when he left for syndication afternoons, Steve Harvey just plopped right in the slot and he was GOOD! I never liked Howard.

The ONE problem that I did have with Steve on WGCi, is because of his very busy schedule, he was out of the studio plenty of times and they had his co-host filling in. That was the issue that eventually became the reason for his departure from the morning show. It was around 8 months to a year if I remember for Steve's reign on WGCi.

I'd love to see Steve Harvy on Power 92, but for what I've heard from his past recent jobs, he denounces Rap, so this is the reason why he is now on Urban AC's and not Urban Mainstreams.

As for the Power 92 memo, yes it did mention dumping Courtney Hicks as well. But when the memo leaked, it pissed off Stone Pony enough for HIM to leave. This left Power scrambling to figure out what to do. They wanted to replace them with Sam Sylk, but he was under contract until September with WGCi. Therefore, Courtney just assumed lead roll with Leon Rogers as co-host.

My take on it, I'm not so sure that a "Sam Sylk, Leon Rogers, and Ozman morning show" would have done any better than Stone Pony and Courtney. The ONLY thing that anything has up agains Doug Banks was that the shows are local. That's it. Besides that, pfft.

People have been used to Howard McGee for so long, and he has already out-lasted 3 morning shows on Power... people like routine and it's going to take A LOT to pull them from WGCi. Power hasn't done it, and I don't believe they can.

Do you think Sam Sylk will join the power92 family now??

I don't think they would be able to beat GCI's salary offer....Sam is doing well on GCI

<font color=3333ff>Not only that, unless WGCi fires Sam Sylk, he will probably just get a contract renewal.

Ya never know though, since Elroy seems to like letting people go once they achieve their highest numbers in their daypart (Rick Party, Irene Mojica, Keisha Monk (Keyz), Stone Pony) for example.
