At least one cut today, as Forever lets Dave Shannon go.
Hard to figure this one out. Shannon is a hard-working guy with a long history in the market.
I also heard that the GM over there is on a week of forced leave of some kind, courtesy of Carol Logan.
Sounds like a fun place to work.
But I thought their recently departed OM stated publicly on here that no one knows the real story about the company and essentially implied that its a great place to work?
Too bad about Dave. He is a voice that has been around forever. I pretty much remember listening to him in the 80's on the "Q" in Cresson when they were trying to take on WFBG and later WPRR head on.
Not sure what the deal is with the GM, but we can only assume this is a prelude to the revolving door going spinning yet again. Thats a shame. With the dismantling of CHR on the 103.1 format, they have already seen a lot of good talent go out the doors between Ken Prell, Glen Turner and the rest of the 103 air staff...plus they've gone through countless sales and programming type persons.
How can you make money or build a following among the advertisers when there is no stability whatsoever? Frequencies change...formats change...people change. Maybe we can ditch Qwk at 103.1 and just simulcast Froggy on 103.1, 99.5, 98.7, WRSC and WMAJ all at the same time? We can even change the handle of the region from Happy Valley to Froggy Valley. After all, Froggy seems to be the only real success story as of late and the only station that is solid as a rock with no chance of stumbling.
It seemed like a good place to work when a certain "Hitman" was in Glenn's office asking about a job on Hot a few months back...didn't it?
First off, before you shoot off your mouth, you should have your facts straight. Secondly, do you think you are cool because you can spout off who met with whom and when? I hope you are not in any position of authority because if you are, you should not be. Since you brought it up...did I meet with Glen? Yes, I did. Were you in the room...do you know what we talked about? No...you don't. But for the record, I met with Glen because at that time, there were some wild rumors going around concerning my station and I was exploring other possible options "in case". Thankfully, it turned out those rumors were false anyway and it ended up that Hot was killed off and therefore the CHR arena was handed to us on a silver platter anyway.
I take offense to your comments simply because the Simpsons are not just people I work for, they are my friends as well, so its not really up to you to speculate as to what was going through my mind when I met with their competitor for a one-on one. Oh and by the way, for most of my 45 minute session with Glen, we just sat and jawwed about Radio in general and our take on this market, etc.
I am pleased with the current focus of G101 and I am happy there and unless situations change greatly, I am not going anyplace anytime fast and thats all you need to be concerned with. As for the rest...Glen knows what we talked about...and I know...and its not really anyone else's concern but I really think its uncool of you to be airing dirty laundry on here without thinking of the people affected first...but I have nothing to hide either. If I did, I would have asked Glen to meet me in some secret location somewhere to talk "off the record", but I did not. I came through the front door, and left through the front door and everyone in the office that day knew very well I was there. Contrary to the attitudes the people on this board seem to project, there is no law stating that competitors cannot sit down and talk to each other about whatever they care to. Did we talk jobs....yeah briefly we did....did we talk lots of other things...YES we did! Is it any of your business...no...its not!
