Tell that to the women aged 34-45 who listen and
are considered the best demographic out there. One
thing is for sure, with your current attitude,
YOU will never make it on any real station with
your limited ability understand the radio game.
Say what you want to about Steve and
Vikki, but they'll bring in more revenue in
a week than you sound like you will in a lifetime.
Get over yourself.

I am sure everyone at Q and V are thrilled that
somehow they passed YOUR approval rating. Brinks
truck arriving at Star again...how's that Big
Mac?

And I don't work for Star, but Steve McCoy is a
class act who wouldn't stoop to your level, even
after all the shots fired at him by know-it-all
wanna-bes. You'd do yourself a service to observe
at this point of your life. Then, when you hit
the big leagues, people can take shots at you.

People may listen, but it doesn't take away the fact that Steve and Vicki are probably the most boring people to listen to. Steve and Vicki are unrelatable to women. They talk in fake radio voices and just sound like they could care less on what their listeners say.

Yes I agree both Steve and Vikki are both class acts... I have run into Steve McCoy in public at grocery stores or at sporting events and each time I have talked to him he has always been very humble and down to earth. Nothing goes to his head or Vikki's. Tom Sullivan is just the same. The entire morning show is great. That's why they have lasted so long and have such a huge following in the city after all these years because they make people who have not even met them feel like they know them and they become part of the family and ride each morning. That's what radio is all about in my opinion. Its about connecting with your listeners and establishing a relationship with them, and of course bringing in revenue as well.

Again I have been listening to them since I was 9 and now I am 23 and I am still listening just like others across the city are because we feel we know them and have connected with them all these years. They still are awesome every morning.

Here Here!... I had the pleasure to work with Steve way back when he did mornings on "Atlanta's Hit Radio Z93".... He was a talented, class act who knew his audience then and he still is...

Unrelatable to women? I'd be willing to bet the farm that they have the highest female listenership in the market. If not the highest, definitely up there. If the women don't like what they say, I'm sure they wouldn't be listening.

Thanks to all of you who backed me up on the Steve & Vikki
"just say no" to the trashing. The more I thought about this,
I thought it is only fair to disclose this. A friend and
fellow poster on here suggested it before I even mentioned
I was thinking of doing this...

I have know Steve since 1978. He's one of the more awesome
people I have ever known. He's generally pretty
shy and soft spoken. He's pretty much only a (country*)ham on the
air. He gave me the time of day when I didn't have a watch
or enough of a brain to read one. He'd give anyone the
shirt off his back, a step up and I think he really appreciates
the listeners who believe in them. I'd say, as a guess, he's
still fairly uncomfortable in crowds or public. Sincere,
honest, trusting and trustworthy, hard-working. My God,
he's been doing 250 shows a year for about 30 years. Like
12 people on the planet could perform like that. And those
are his bad points.

Thanks again for backin' me up on standing up for someone
who has worked hard for everything he had made and given.

-------

*Only Steve will get the Country Ham comment, sort of an
inside joke. He'll know who got his back on this. Cause
he'd do it for me --- or most anyone who deserved it.

Sorry to rant. Guess it comes with old age.

I find it hilarious that a comment about "the show" turned into a defense of Steve McCoy. I'm sure they are all great people, but that has NOTHING to do with how good or bad the show is. I personally can't listen - it's too bland and un-funny, but I'm sure Steve is a perfectly nice, normally guy off the air.

You're right to look at it that way, but the response of "they
suck" was below the belt and immature. As for being successful
--- they are among the most in the US, especially for longevity.
The ratings and listenership and billing prove that. But, like
McDonald's is #1 in the US, you couldn't pay me to eat there.

Saying you personally can't listen is a lot more honest and
objective than "they suck."

Re: More fun on steve & vikki

Without Steve McCoy I wouldn't have my morning show partner. Steve took the time to inspire and reward a 14 year old with a stutter who now helps me stay #1 in our market.Of course, that doesn't mean their show is relevant to today's woman. It's easy to say something sucks because you don't like it but if what you're judging is as successful as Steve and Vikki's show then you're really judging the general public. It also means, in all likelihood, that you don't understand the general public and until you do...well, mass media will be a tough career for you.
