more heads roll at GST?

Heard TRG this morning talking to Duke LaCrosse (AKA Fin) who was worried because 2 sports people were let go from WGST, and he thought he may be next if it was a C.C. clearing of the sports dept. Any idea who was let go?

At this point does it really matter? Why doesn't CC just pay the $250,000 for the DJ simulator and eliminate the entire payroll except for a typist?

Saria Rose wasn't "putting out" at the level I expect from one of my female hires. (see WSOC)

Last one out please turn off the lights.
It seens we posters haven't run out things to say about the worst radio station in metro Atlanta. All can I say is, when someone does turn them back on again, let's hope it's says "All-News 640". But, we can still dream.

Here's a prediction ??? WGST will be your next 24 hour religious station. Let's face facts. WGST is dead! It died long ago,and continues to stink up the Atlanta radio market. WGST is headed for that dreaded (Well we didnt know what else to do, so we sold it to a religious outfit) syndrome. Unless the all news would come back, GST is just over.. So So So over... WSB put the last nails in the casket, and they did a good job on top of that. Shut the lid, get the radio hearse and lets finally bury this
once legendary station. Hey, dude hit the lights time to flip on the new " 640 WGOD
Atlanta's new bright light all preaching all the time station" I dont have anything against stations that have that type of format, in fact I enjoy some of the programming, but lets quit hoping that anything will ever wake up cc on the merits of doing anything with this horrible signal. :p

While "WGOD" would be nice, the folks at Salem tend to own the format and dominate that market. If anyone wants to do religious programming (and keep the stuff biblically sound), Salem's the best choice. Everybody else out there is just second rate from what I've heard.

so where will the braves be if 640 goes all news.? will they stay? or go exclusivly to 96 rock?

The Braves at this point would be better suited to be only on 96 Rock! The Station has a superior signal, day or night. Or for that matter just a thought, WSB picks them back up, which would not surprise me in the least. Or perhaps, put them on the River? In any event WGST has never been a great signal to have them on.
Back in the 1980's I was working at 1550 am WYNX smyrna, we were just one of the local stations that carried the signal from WCNN when they were the flagship for a while, Our signal during the day was as good even in Atlanta as WCNN. WGST
just doesn't have the signal or even the attraction to keep them. I will have to state that if WGST went all news this would probably save this station as now they
just arent even worth the time to flip to. I do like Denny Radio , but to me he's the only reason to listen.

I figure the money we'll save on these three salaries will help us get back 3-4% of the annual revenue WGST has lost since I took over.

It is truly amazing how Clear Channel has flushed WGST down the toilet.

Is it possible the revenues alone from airing Rush are "keeping the lights on"? I've seen a few posts recently about how much they are charging for a spot during his show but I just took them as tongue in cheek replies.
If GST did go another format route, where in Atlanta would Rush end up? DUN airs him but you can't really get it in the metro area.

WDUN also airs Hannity and Dave Ramsey and the Atlanta Braves so is there really any need for WGST?

It pains me that a once great station has been gutted this way.

The low rates for Rush on WGST posts may be exaggerations but not by much. I know of at least one sponsor who is paying less than $100 a spot for Limbaugh, about a fifth of the pre-Bloomquist rate. Annual billings are down almost two thirds from where they were in 2004, an even worse performance than their ratings. One of the many reasons Jerry Del Core is history.

Maybe CC should sell WGST to the folks who own WDUN. Even if they just used WGST as a repeater for WDUN, it would be a huge improvement. Maybe the WDUN engineers could fix whateverthehell is wrong with WGST's audio that makes them sound like the audio is coming via the telephone.
