The competition continues to heat up in Huntsville and changes continue comming (mostly on the urban side of things). The New Hot 103-5 now has afternoon and evening DJs on the air. No word yet on middays or when the syndicated morning show will begin. Their website at http://www.hot1035fm.com/ has officially launched, and by that I mean it no longer says "comming soon". It looks nice but a bit bare. I'm sure more content will be added soon. I'm very impressed with how fast and how well this station as really hit the ground running. People of all shapes sizes colors and genders are talking about it all over town. The only thing I wonder is why there are no billboards plastered up all over the city!?!?
The Urban A/C 94.1 WHRP has made changes itself, and by that I don't mean the new frequency. They have added the syndicated Keith Sweat slow jamz show in the evenings from 6 to 11 Sunday through Friday. With the falling numbers of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, I wonder if a change in morning shows is in the works for the future? The Steve Harvey morning show perhaps? They will need to be at their best now that they are on a smaller signal in order to keep their heads above water and bring revenue.
Still waiting on Country competition to arrive on 93.3. I assume that change will happen after the new year.
And, finally, as you all have heard the Rick and Bubba show moves to 100.3 the River, opening room for a local morning show on Rock 95.1 The Rocket. Speaking of the Rocket, maybe its just me but does it seem like they are playing a bit more current music this past week and less classic rock? Sure hope so.
I'll keep you posted on the latest happenings in Huntsville as they develope. It sure is a busy market right now. Personally I'm glad. It's been so sleepy up here for so long. I'm loving the shake ups!
