More KKLZ Changes

The Warrior, who recently moved from afternoons to nights at KKLZ, is no longer with the station. He had worked just about every shift at KKLZ during his several stints with the station dating back to the late 1980s. Maybe he will re-join KKLZ yet again in a year or two if they are still around?

In other KKLZ news, Mike O' Brian has been heard on the KKLZ morning show with Mitchell and Tofte.

From what I've heard, Mike O'Brian has moved to KKLZ. I've seen nothing official yet, or any job openings for star... Star clearing out the goods before they dump their format? I think it's horrible having the Party AND Star in the market, they're pretty much the same now. I think they're just stealing money from eachother at this point. Anyone think Star will flip? If so, to what? Top 40? If history repeats itself it would just mean another station trying to take KLUC's listeners that wouldn't make any money. who knows though, only time will tell.

I don't think that STAR will be changing formats in the near future. They just shifted to this format a couple of months ago. They will give it some time to see how it does.

I disagree that STAR and PARTY are pretty much the same. STAR is a very mainstream Hot AC. They are positioned exactly between SUNNY and MIX. At first glance this seems like a good idea since both KSNE and KMXB are market leaders. But what I have noticed through the years is these stations that "middle" themselves tend to do very poorly. They don't establish a clear identity or generate passion.

PARTY is a Rhythmic AC that seems to mostly be targeting KLUCs 25+ audience. They do play some pop songs but dont overlap with STAR too much.

Nice to have a non-KDWN discussion

I agree, maybe someone should create a board just for KDWN

KKLZ'S biggest mistake was getting rid of Dan Lea cause the GM thought he was too old. Dan knows his stuff. KKLZ is EASILY fixable....
Mike O Brian to mornings...bring on the whippings! Bring back Dan Lea to middays and let him do music...(hes a freakin ACE there!) Professor to PM Drive, and the new guy to nights...The Point is retarded to think Kim Kelly will pull any numbers in middays(she may in her first book, because of "curiousity cume", but no one did middays there like Lark, and now she's wasting away at night.

Who remembers when Kim Kelly worked on KOMP? Some good times back then.

really? I must have smoked too many during that time period....of course, now the only thing I smoke is salmon...boy they were fun days...lol...)
