More KRTH observations

Anyone notice that they are no longer talking over as much of intros/outros as before?

Before going to the breaks, the DJ always gives the time.

There seems to be more variety of jingles of KRTH being played.

Still not sure about the processing, but it does sound good.

Am I hearing more songs slowly going into the playlist, or is it just my imagination (no pun intended)?

Something else as well. At 4pm today, Gary Bryan said "It's 4 o'clock in the big boss basin!" Interesting that he happened to say boss, don't you think?

To me as least, the station sounds a bit smoother.
______________

You're totally correct, and actually the improvements started right away. I'm sure Jhani Kaye had a good idea of where he wanted to start before he took over. The variety of music is so improved that it almost sounds like a totally different station. Musically it sounds closer to the KRTH of the early 80's, but even better. A lot like a top 40 station in the late 70's.
The staff was always great for the most part and if they continue on course they're going to really have a chance to bring KRTH back to life. Yes, it does sound as if Jhani wants to bring the BOSS back. Bill Drake is on the air as are some of the older, bosser jingles. I expect that when the budget permits there may even be new jingles from Johnny Mann or at least some that sound that way. I think they would be smart to go back in time and get the old TM jingles used by KHJ and the other RKO stations in the 70's. At this point in time you could cherry-pick the very best from over the years.
For KRTH, the best may be yet to come...

Something tells me that wasn't an accident :)

I'm not sure how many more songs are getting added in, but I think the kinks in the music rotations are getting systematically worked out. The station has an energy and flow it's been lacking since the early 90's.

How long has it been since there have been POSITIVE threads
about KRTH? Good to see...hopefully KRTH will join KROQ and KTWV
and start streaming soon.
______________
