More L.A. Broadcast History at Risk

Tribune wants to sell its Sunset Blvd. lot...where KTLA is now and where KMPC was from 1968 until sometime in the mid-90s.

Article in the L.A. Times (including photo of fence that keeps you from walking up the front walkway and into what used to be the nicest lobby in the business): http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-ktla30aug30,1,7179018.story?ctrack=1&cset=true

Well that's terrible! Is this the current Tribune ownership? This is another sad bit of news.

It is a sign of the times, local television is no more than local news so having studios capable of production of entertainment and other programming is outdated. Look at Columbia Square and even Channel 5 in Cincinnati that gave up the Crosley Square studios where the Jerry Springer show was born. Hopefully those buildings will survive and remain local landmarks.
