More lamp-timer problems at Gumpdusky - KDUS this time

Apparently they've taken the one they use for power-level switching at Gudadalupe & I-10 and put it someplace else (not likely taken to the lumberyard, of course ;D ) because KDUS has been running at it's nighttime power all day. I can barely hear them in Ahwahtukee and even had fadeouts along I-10 just south of their towers - just like they do at night with their 1 watt ERP signal to the south.

And this is a bad thing? ;D

FYI (no, not 55/FYI...just "FYI"), they must have found it sometime this afternoon
as they were on full day power (5 kw ND) around 6:30pm. KDUS was pegging my
radio's signal meter to the top here in the 'Tuke as it normally does in the daytime.

It appears they did cut to the night pattern just before 7:00 as the level dropped.

Should be able to get KNX 1070 pretty soon--not that there's much of a heritage
all news station left, since it has pretty much been dismantled by one DGH.

And speaking of doing power/pattern changes per monthly schedule...one of our
other local faves (you do realize sarcasm mode is on now!), KFNX 1100 Cave Creek
did not power down until almost 7:08.

They were very weak yesterday afternoon near Loop 101 & Cave Creek Rd. Definitely running 500 watts at that time.

They were running night power this morning at 6:30. KNX was weak but audible at 48th & Warner. Gumpdusky just can't keep their lamp timers working properly, can they? ;D

Normally these discussions are not all that compelling, however I was listening yesterday after reading this thread and sure enough at the end of the segment (at 1:40pm) Bob Kemp went to break and just as the "Sporting News Flash" was coming on, I heard KDUS power up. Almost 8 hours late on that one. Gumpdusky really can't run a radio station at all, whether it's from a programming/content perspective or a technical aspect... absolutely abysmal.

So I figured, why not check KDUS and KFNX again tonight (Wednesday)?

KDUS powered down about 6:57. Give them another attaboy. Maybe they
do it manually since they're actually staffed (aren't they?) with a board op.

KFNX however didn't drop power until about 7:11. Noteworthy about this
is the (live) show host mentioned that some AMs have to reduce power at
sunset and that it's just about sunset (he of course isn't aware of the
specified monthly times) and there's the option of listening on line if the
radio signal bites the dust and...lo and behold about then is when they
flipped the switch. I wonder if the board op "forgot" and was basically
embarassed into doing so by the host's comments? :D

In this world of automation, how many AMs actually have a board op manually powering down on the STL?

This evening (Friday) after figuratively tucking the Lumberyard
into bed, I ran 1060 and 1100 through NCIC to see if there were
any wants and warrants. ;)

KDUS cut to their night pattern at 1857:30. They must have
their own lamp timer as it occurred in the middle of a spot--
with a couple seconds of "off the air static" during the switch.
Can you say "make-good"?

KFNX once again ran well past what should be an acceptable
grace period as power drop was not until 1911 (nearly 1912).
They can't use the excuse of their clock not being correct
as they back-timed their ID and hit CNN right at the TOH
(well, plus :07 as they were in delay).

BTW, where--or "how" might be the better word--did they
get such a ballsy image voice? I think I've heard him on
KSL-FM Midvale/KSL Salt Lake City, among other stations.

Monday evening (April 30)...

KFNX was pretty much par for the course as they did not drop power
until 1911:50 which nets them a double bogey and a trip to the
woodshed for a corporate spanking.

KDUS meanwhile must have thought it was May already as they didn't
"lose the 'Tuke" until 1914:25. Your track record was good lately...
