More low power radio, but...

A few years ago only us geeks even knew what the word meant. The lines between broadcast and online radio will continue to blur.

I have a sense that in five years, Bluetooth will be old tech. Look how quickly the Blackberry was surpassed.

But yes, the smart broadcasters are the ones who have begun to build a platform beyond towers and transmitters. It doesn't matter how they get your content, as long as they get your content.

another example of the mini fm transmitters, the $15 one from Rite Aid. Heck, fairly cheap for those who want to hear their mp3 players etc in the car (and yes I know many new cars have the 1/8" jack so you can get a simple cord and play your device that way. I've had rentals with them.)

http://raccoonradio.freehostia.com/fmt.jpg
(has freqs like 88.7, 88.9, 107.1, 107.3, 107.9, 88.5 etc)
Can also go "a few houses down the street". Have plugged one into one of the jacks of my comp.,
set it to some music stream, and it goes a short ways...legally. I still do occasionally hear
Howard Stern via Sirius at 88.5 at the junction of Rantoul and Federal streets in Beverly...

I'll have to get one of those at Rite Aid, it sounds like it's alot better than Belkin, especially if you can pick it up from a few houses down the street. I have not had an FM transmitter since the summer.

Well it should do well; I actually haven't opened it yet (will now, I found the scissors!) but it should probably be about as well as the Maxell I mentioned earlier (which I have at work, kinda beat up and old now). It probably will work as well, but I'll pass along the info if it turns out to be a piece of
crap. OK here goes...

Does work, and it seems to push around my own apartment at least...maybe to a few houses on either side (would go out, but baby it's cold outside! But it should be OK...) Testing:
--smart phone on XM app (BB King's Bluesville)
--comes through on walkman with slight buzz but on stereo in another room (set to 88.3), just fine.
Again something like this is more for playing, say, an mp3 player thru car stereo.
(takes a couple AAs, blue light to indicate when on)
