More Needham tower issues.

Last Friday night a gas pressurization leak developed in the transmission line to the top antenna on the "CBS" tower, used by WBZ, WCVB, WSBK, and WGBX. It was patched temporarily last night, but a replacement part had to be ordered, presumably from Dielectric in Maine. Tonight WBZ, WSBK, WGBH, and WGBX will shut down at midnight until at least 5 AM to allow installation of that part. WGBH on the lower antenna section must also be off during the work, but WCVB will remain on, using their backup antenna much lower on the tower.

Yet more issues. Per WGBH, engineers found a damaged bay on the upper antenna last night, and moved the transmitters to the lower and backup antennas until repairs are completed. Tonight they will remove the panel and bring it to Maine (presumably Dielectric) for repairs tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

The WGBH link is above.
