More Ohio Tropo and a strange one...

This morning 8/18 8:30-9am in Springfield (all mobile)
93.1 WFGF Lima OH "Froggy 93" country, promos
93.7 WQIO Eagle 93.7, obliterating WFCJ
94.9 WONB, Ada, OH CNN news making short work of WSWD
95.3 WKTN Kenton, OH, 95 KTN jingle over semi-local WZLR
*****
96.7 W224BR, Springfield OH K-Love translator...relaying not a 96.9 but WWNK 107.1 out of Circleville (Columbus market) Ohio! There is another KLove translator in Springfield on 107.1..couldn't be possible they were trying to feed 107.1 with another K-Love signal (not legal) then relay the 107.1 signal on 96.7? Only logical explanation I can think of. A few minutes later apparently the reciever found its way back to 96.9 where it again started relaying 96-9 Kiss FM from Lexington.
******
96.9 three way mess between WOKL (KLove in Troy), Kiss FM/Lex and WSWD, Willard, OH. Stopped the car just right to hear 3 southern gospel songs, an ID and concert promo.

104.5 WJJK, Indianapolis, Jack FM relog
107.5 WZRX, Ft Shawnee-Lima, OH. Sports

Here's how it probably works:
107.1 translator relays 96.9 WOKL
96.7 translator relays 107.1 translator
Easier than trying to relay a first adjacent which would require some really tight filters or separating the receiver and transmitter by some distance.

They also have a daisy chain going on where their 103.3 translator in Enon picks up the Air1 station on 88.3 and then 98.7 in Beavercreek/Riverside is picking up 103.3. I didn't check it to see if I was getting any interesting catches like WMLX in Lima on it.

At least they aren't cheating and using the bird to feed the translators (not legal for commercial band translators).

W268AX 101.5 was also getting a noisy signal from WTGN 97.7 in Lima overriding WSWO-LP on its input.

Does make sense.I didn't think about the first adjacent issue. So when I heard the Lexington 96.9 on 96.7 I was really hearing Lex 96.9 being picked up on the 107.1 receiver then sent back to 96.7...so its double translator DX!!The other day I caught Kiss 96-9 on both the 96.7 and 103.7 translators, couldn't even pick up 107.1. I can imagine any low power fm or especially translator would either be wiped out or in the case of translators, be relaying something other than what they were supposed to! A lady friend of mine who is a P1 for K-Love and a contributor was about ready to pull her support because she had trouble getting the signal the last few mornings until I explained the problems were just atmospheric conditions.

Right now in Cincy we are getting more troopo on Saturday, august 18, 2007 at 10:39pm.

95.7 ron louisville

98.9 kiss fm

smooth jazz 106.5fm from Dayton

107.9 the track from Indinanapolis

some religous stuff on 100.7

98.1 with country music

95.3 with country from louisville (so clear that it sounds like a local)

95.5 with country

103.1 with hip hop

Had some of that coming home late Saturday night as well. Your 98.1 was undoubtedly Lexington's "Bull" (should be a semi-local in Cincy anyway) and they were blasting into the Dayton/Springfield area. Kiss 96.9 was on all three of the Springfield K-Love translators, and your 100.7 was WEEC, Springfield

No doubt, 95.5 is WFMS from Indianapolis. None of this is a big surprise. You should be able
to hear distant signals by tropospheric ducting till October. Get a good beam antenna and
you should get 300 miles every morning till fall.

I once listened to Cleveland, St Louis, and Canada every night in Indianapolis. But this was before
we had so many stations.
