More on AM 970

If I remember correctly 970 has been off the air for possibly a year. Which as you know will cause the license to be deleted. However a week or so ago, I noticed a very faint signal on 970 along highway 80 and at the Home Depot parking lot. It is indeed WFQY. Almost no signal and very low audio. It sounds like a part 15. Maybe gets out a mile or less from the tower. As a matter of fact you can drive past the tower and barely hear it above the electrical static. The tower is on Marquette Road behind the old cement plant down the road from the Auto Zone. I couldn't even hear it at the auto zone

WFQY has returned to the air.

Yes it has. Not sure when It signed on, apparently wednesday night or early thursday. I heard it on the way to work at 6:30 AM. The audio is much better than before. They are currently playing all Prince with a live DJ as of this afternoon. I didn't know he had died until I got home. I guess that explains the all Prince show.

May have been on night power. I've notice it sometimes isn't as strong as usual. Hard to tell due to the MASSIVE power line static. It is so bad at the downtown red light that the entire band is wiped out. Even 970 is barely audible with the tower only a stones throw away
