Curiosity factor means little in radio because it simply does not last. I was a big Depetro fan when he was on HJJ. But when he came back to Providence I listened for all of two hours on his first day and I don't think I have listened for longer than a half hour total since. That does NOTHING to boost ratings. Imus will sadly have the same result.

You're likely correct Skynet - BUT: he was FAN's biggest money daypart. And in at least one other major market, the same. I think GM's and sales folk would tell you that sales for Imus have never been ratings driven.

Imus was propelled into the National spotlight after he slammed President Clinton at the Correspondents Dinner. After that, his future could have gone badly. Millions of people turned him on to see what he was all about. At that point, he picked up triple the amount of affiliates. He then had over 100 paid affiliates. Hundreds of thousands of people nationwide have never heard Imus, if they like what they hear after this worldwide discussion, they will continue to listen.
