Re: WCER...Akron? (And Rush once on WAKR?)

I experienced the same thing there with Darth except Chanellor Palpatine Scanlon did as much.

Re: WCER...Akron? (And Rush once on WAKR?)

I've heard various stories about Scanlon going with CC when the station moves, but nothing I can confirm. Guys like Petricola and Scanlon have no clue how the corporate matrix operates; Guys like G.P. would've been removed from his position a LONG time ago if he worked inside the corporate box. Last time I checked harrasment isn't tolerated in large corporations...
If you worked there you know what I'm talking about in regards to Gary's tirades from time to time....

Re: WCER...Akron? (And Rush once on WAKR?)

Agreed. There's an alleged legendary story about an employee there who shall remain nameless on this board...anyway, this employee allegedly jacked up a fellow department member against the wall and screamed at this person for screwing up a story for a newscast. The person who was jacked up quit shortly thereafter. In a staff meeting the following day, one of the station adminstrators made the announcement that should an incident like that happen again, the (offending) person would be fired immediately.

If you listen to Jim Rome at all, you know how he uses the word "allegedly."

I know the people you're talking about involved in the altercation; That in fact did happen, and both no longer work at the station.
Guess things like that happen quite a bit when there's nobody you can really go to for intervention (E.G. human resources); Small mom/pop stations have to have a ton of stories like that; Just a shame employees have to go through that to make an honest living from day to day!!!

I know both guys too. The guy on the receiving end is one of the nicest, friendliest people I ever worked with. Related "alleged" funny story (and there are a "ton" as you said), I was on the phone once getting ready for an interview and the "anger management" person was "allegedly" screaming at me as I was on the phone getting the subject ready for an interview. In the background behind me, (clearly audible to the person I'm talking to on the phone) this person was dropping f-bombs on me and cussing like crazy. I calmly told the person on the phone, "Excuse me, my boss is throwing a temper tantrum." I then had to tell my boss to "please quiet down because I have to tape an interview." The woman on the other end of the phone was laughing. I couldn't help but laugh as well. It was classic.

Final story...yet about the same person. When basketball season was approaching, I needed the first Saturday off to go to a friend's wedding. I asked the person for the day off. You would have thought I just sacrificed the family goat. The person "allegedly" asked me, "What for? That's an important weekend. We're doing three games that weekend." I said, "I have to go to a wedding." This person said to me, "Tell your friend they picked a sh*&&* weekend to have a wedding." Unbelievable.

Re: More...

Incredible!
Again those types of people would be terminated often if they worked in any kind of 'corporate' atmosphere; I guess that's the sacrifice you make to work at a small-town radio station.
I personally didn't think it was worth it and got out!!!!
If we're talking about the same people Mr F-Bomb ironically got a position at a religious school! LOL
