More on WELI

Scott, one of Connecticut’s leading conservative voices of the past three decades, was the last local on-air voice at WELI-AM, once a fully-staffed Greater New Haven news station turned into a right-wing talk radio syndication outlet by owner Clear Channel Communications.

I hardly would call Imus right-wing. And as a conservative it irks me no end that a leftist city like New Haven would resort to such things when they know damn well the leftists who run the city can't take it when it goes on them!

But back to the matter at hand I have another look at this matter here...

Now tell me if this is right-wing?

And I wonder about Clear Channel if they like Citadel's Farid Suleman, who gave money to Dodd's campaign among other political contributions to libs and RINO Republicans.

I smell politics in this and I will NEVER EVER work for Clear Channel if they are going to cozy up to people like Dodd and take and ruin radio stations they way they have for profit's sake! Thanks God at least New Haven has WQUN.

To the Independent's credit I'm glad they included a link to the interview.

WHY IN THE NAME OF HEAVEN DID CCU HIRE SUCH A PUNK LIKE THIS RYAN GORMAN?! Clear Channel needs to do some major soul searching and they should have sold WELI, KC101 and WAVZ. Besides how can you compete in a market like New Haven when your news is piped in from Syracuse?

And you think for a moment CC cares about what goes on their air anymore? Their staffs are pard tot he bone, their news and programming piped in from everywhere but "here."

Might as well shut off the transmitter and save even more.

robert anthony - take off your tinfoil hat. the fact is, tom scott is an a-hole who treated people at CC NH like crap, and when push came to shove, no one wanted to back up the d-bag who thought he was the biggest thing to happen to talk radio since rush.

Looks like the local experiment is over. WELI started carrying Hannity and Gibson again in the 5-7 time slot last week. I like Ryan Gorman as a talk host. I know he's younger and less experience than other hosts who have done WELI talk since the 70s, but he does his homework and brings good arguments to the table.

More information here regarding the recent departure of Tom Scott from WELI from the New Haven Independent.

It looks like there had definitely been tensions.

I love CC's statement at the end talking about the "local aspect of the community." Yeah, as long as the news comes in from Syracuse, right? :)

ELI needs more local programming. But we are talking about Cheap Channel. If there is a cheap way out they will find it.

Or maybe he is gone...like he is from the WELI website...it says Hannity is on 3-7 weekdays, which is also wrong. They need to get with the program here and make up there minds with what they want to do with afternoon at WELI. Also noticed, if they have gotten rid of Gorman, then they need to take down the job posting for his producer in the afternoon. Just an FYI!!!
