MORE PAIN AT CLEAR CHANNEL ATLANTA

Watch these moves happen in the next few days:

96Rock-blown up. Everyone canned. Jockless. Stunting. Then active rock jukebox.
Buzz-Gone. Spanish.
Lite-96.7 bound. voice tracked. 94.9 = country.

I only see 96 Rock going away, either classic hits, the Buzz, or WGST-FM.
If 94.9 goes, then it will go to rythmic AC (where many CC AC's are already going.
Buzz stays around - maybe move up to 96.1
96.7 - as the Buy Owner ads say..."It's as good as sold".

Other than 96 Rock, I don't see much happening in light of the CC breakup (that is what it really is in the end).

What they need to try is a beautiful music station. There is too many rock channels in Atlanta anyways they need some variety. They need a beautiful music channel like Wpch in Atlanta use to be until they went lite. There is currently nowhere on the dial for relaxing music in Atlanta. This would probebly send the ratings soaring to number one. This is the reason I think Clear Channel is failing because they have too many of the same formats on the dial and no variety.I hope the rumours are true about Wpch in Macon. It's rumoured to be beautiful music after the holidays.Even the Macon Telegraph said it was going to be a unique format.

Oh, but you're wrong.

Hmm...that actually sounds like a good idea. Maybe nobody has done that format because they think of 'elevator music' of the 70's but there may be a desire for it nowadays. When the voting polls open for 'most music while you work' catagory, it might even put a dent in the B98.5 juggarnaut.

I'm guessing 'beautiful music' is different from classical (which would be heard on 90.1/WABE) ?

Yes it is.Beautiful music is relaxing lush strings done by Percy Faith,The 101 Strings,Ronnie Aldrich,Frank Chacksfield,The Hollyridge Strings,The Romantic Strings etc etc.Classical music is Beetovin,Bach,Wagner etc. They sound very different.Wpch in Atlanta use to play this music in the 70s as did Wcry in Macon.Beautiful Music is also known as elevator music and easy listening. They use to play this in dentist and doctors offices to relax people. You also use to occasionally hear it in grocery stores.Xm has a beautiful music station on channel 78.You can also hear it on dishnetwork on channel 973.

This format will not come back (PERIOD).

I would probably listen, and with all the "Baby Boomers" still around and getting older by the day, it would probably be successful. But all of the PD'S are 12 and do not think that way.

107.5 is the best alternative for relaxing.
