More programming lunacy from TRP

Heard Rick Jackson's "Country Hall of Fame" on the dog this weekend.
It is billed as America's premier CLASSIC country weekend show.
Playing Jimmie Rogers to Alan Jackson. Jimmie Rogers?????
What's up with this. Me thinks it belongs on 105.3
The "Legends" craziness is about to get out of hand.
Let's superserve 50+ Where's Boxcar Willie when you need him :)

Rick Jackson has been airing on DJR for years. It made sense to have a classic show on a contemporary station so that they could still identify with the classics. However, now that all this market has is classic stations, who knows where it belongs? I prefer the newer stuff, myself. It's interesting that if you want to hear Rascal Flatts, Tim, McGraw, or Keith Urban (3 of the 4 biggest names in the format) with any regularity, you have to listen to WOOF-FM. The folks at Magic must feel pretty good about themselves, being such trend setters. Who would have thought that this or any radio market would have THREE stations focusing on classics?

Of course, if you really want to hear some quality broadcasting, you should listen to "The Big Dog" on Saturday nights. They run a satelite show called The Big Time Saturday Night with Whitney Allen. Nothing wrong with that, except that nobody ever bothers to fill the local spot sets. so 2 or 3 times an hour, you get 1 or 2 minutes of dead air. Big Dog, indeed. I guess it's hard to put on a quality show when everyone is at Cowboy's trying to pick up whatever crumbs are dropped by 95.5.

Maybe TRP will flip Rock 102.5 to a New Country format. That way, the circle of confusion will be complete.

The empty spots during syndication is absurd. Ever hear of a PSA?
It happens all night over night and on Saturday night. Probably adds up to
2 hours of dead air every week.

And has anyone noticed that the station is the big dog half the time and then overnights
and weekends they are still "Todays best country...." or whatever. That should have been
changed before the flip to the DOG, but several weeks later and it still goes untouched?

Seems as if there are a lot things falling by the wayside down there.

The best change they made was pairing Mason with Misty, at least the morning show is tolerable
now. But c'mon guys, who is covering the details down there?

I think The Magic Group Needs the award for the Most Dead Air Stations around In Dothan . Seems like they would fix it but no they don't care and neither do the employees that work there.

Maybe if we keep pointing out the stupidity, someone will fix it. Here's another one for you: Saturday night a liner hit inviting listeners to tune in for The Morning Crew with Jerry and Misty. Jerry's been gone for what, 5 or 6 weeks now? Damn, people. If you're going to fire your PD/morning guy, then fire an entire staff, change the format of one station, and bring in some hot shot that's going to save the day, could you at least make sure said hot shot could pass a radio 101 exam? It's sad to see a station that once set the standard for this market be in such shambles.

I do agree that bringing Brett back on was good for the morning show. I always enjoyed his show with Jerry. I just wish they had gotten rid of Misty and started over with a fresh team. Anyone notice that the numbers on the morning show held pretty steady until Misty became a part of the team? Could be a coincidence. We'll just have to see what happen now that Brett is her partner.
