More proof that WHUD is better than WFAS

For the third year in a row WHUD is broadcasting live at the Maria Fareri children's hospital to raise money for said hospital. You've got to be impressed with that kind of civic-mindedness. When it comes to connecting with the community WHUD certainly has trumped their rival WFAS.

Unfortunately, I think it is a foregone conclusion that WFAS-FM is on "life support" pending a tx move closer in to NYC and subsequent sale by Cumulus.

No one in the business considers these stations rivals.

One is 3,000 watts, the other 50,000? Thats like saying a single A baseball team should compete with a double A.

On a side note, I wouldn't be so quick to pat WHUD either. It looks like they did something here, and I have absolutely no knowledge of what the arrangements were, but I do know a few radio stations that were getting something in lieu of the live broadcast. Not to say this is wrong, but without knowing the facts, you never know just how charitable this stuff is.

WHUD DJ's all sound like they are drugged up on Valium. At least there is life to WFAS and do alot for the county...

The proof is in pudding with Jay Michaels from WFAS winning 'Best DJ' from Best of Westchester. Isn't WHUD part of Pamel??? Well I dont ever see 107.1 Jimmy Fink winning?? Did I miss that year.

The economy stinks right now...but WFAS will never go away.. ever!

"Best of Westchester" is a sham. ...there...I said it.

WFAS-FM is a dead duck (if they can get a buyer). Cumulus wants to cash in on that Bronx stick. It will probably go Spanish...
The AM is a jukebox that will probably end up religious or leased time ethnic. Those graveyard AM channels become more and more useless by the day.
WFAF is a waste of electricity, especially given the expected demise of 103.9. North of 287 is WHUD country. An stand alone underpowered Class A in Mt. Kisco does not stand a chance. They were better off using it as a repeater for a Poughkeepsie station. Personally, I think it should be 94.3. Country does half decent in Putnam and Danbury, and they can rim shot those areas with 106.3.

P.S...It's a shame too. WFAS was a well run, well consulted operation...back in the day.

Out of all the other AC stations, "Lite-FM" on 92.1 and 98.5 is better than WHUD and WFAS, but it was originally on 99.3 which was pretty good. 98.5 had one of my all-time favorite morning show "Bob & Sheri" on. I love B&S a lot, because it is better than Opie & Anthony and Howard Stern. I should with "Lite-FM" a lot better than WFAS and WHUD.

I never liked CC litefm. They always felt cheap and the music selection was too repetitive. The signal also isn't so great compared to WHUD in Newburgh. WHUD comes in crystal clear on any radio you can think of compared to 92.1, which is full of static unless you start playing around with the antenna.

the only thing on life support is the sound of WHUD! There are changes at WFAS..they may seem drastic right now but I think the place will turn around. By the way...quit comparing WHUD to WFAS...two totally different listener proximity!

I have worked for both stations. While I liked a lot of the folks at WFAS, they are small potato's compared to WHUD. Then again, Jim Morell is the great equalizer... he may yet run Pamal into the ground :D

hmmm T-Rags...small potatoes ha? Only two people I can think of who left WFAS and now work at Pamal.

I like salt on my "small potatoe" with a little bit of ketchup!

I don't work for either these days. I worked for both simultaniously in the late 90's. I was fulltime production dept at WHUD/K104, and also did a weekend shift at WFAS.

I liked alot of the people at WFAS. I'm just stating the obvious, WHUD dominated WFAS, at least back then. The folks who run Pamal have made it an even playing field, however, with their radio ineptitude. ;D
