More questions! This time about WBAJ, WQVA, & WCEO.

I've just about finished adding info for all of the Columbia area stations on Wikipedia. The only problems is trying to remember the various formats that WBAJ, WCEO, & WQVA had in the past.

First off did WBAJ sign on with their current Christian format back in 1999?

Next, what formats did WCEO had in the past? I remember them signing on as a Christian/Talk outlet, then it was Talk with John Wrisley, Tom Turnipseed, Andy Thomas(Gods, did he work at EVERY AM station in town or what!) and a few others for a few years. Then it was very briefly "Sunny 840" (lasting a month) before it became "La Cremenda".

As for WQVA, I can remember when it was WLGO with some kind of automated AC format back in the late 80s/early 90s, then it kinda disappeared off my radar screen until it became Spanish.

Anyone care to help me fill in the blanks?

Robyn

Hey Robyn I believe for the most part you are correct on WCEO, but when they first signed on they were WCTG with a lot of USA radio network christian talk... I don't remember the whole situation, but Andy T and the rest you mentioned started doing local talk and when it first started it really sounded good, but it went downhill pretty quick... I remember some of the staff going in one day only to find the doors were locked and that was right around the time when I started to leave SC... As for the rest I can't help you much other than WBAJ which did sign on as a Christian format as well... CC1

WQVA/WLJO originally signed on at 1170 as WXAX in December of 1983 and was a country station run by Art James and was orginally a Lexington radio station but have no reall rememberance of where the stuidos were.

Hmm, apparently I've jumped the gun. Wiki had taken down the deletion notice. I think someone had the station confused with another station.

Anyway, thanks.

Robyn

I noticed on all the stations that mention Irmo or are licensed to it, it says "Imro"

Just thought I'd point it out so it could be fixed. I'm not knocking on you if you're dyslexic or anything. I don't have a Wiki username or I'd edit it myeslf.

I couldn't find what you were talking about. Could you link me to it?

Believe it or not, there isn't a entry for the town of Imro on Wiki. What shows up if you type "Imro" in the search box is this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMRO

No, I'm not dyslectic, but I do sometimes have vision problems.

On another note, I've finished adding pages for the Columbia market. Once again, I thank everyone here for making it possible.

Robyn

There's a couple that have it that way but I noticed at first on New 92's
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWNU
It says it's licensed to Imro
and "In 2004, the station's license was changed to Imro and the station increased its power to the present 15kw."

BTW, thanks for all the hard work on these. I read through most of them today. Pretty good info for someone not in the loop of Columbia radio.

Got it! I was planning to fix some of the links in the descriptions, but haven't got around to it.

And thanks for the nice complement. I have to admit that I was once on "the inside" as I've worked for WSCQ (back when it was owned by Congaree Broadcasting), WVOC (as a board op), and WMFX (for weekends).

Best,
Robyn

I used to work in radio here in eastern North Carolina. Once its in you, it never leaves. I'm probably moving to Columbia at the end of this year/beginning of next year and I've been reading and asking a lot about radio there because of it.

I'm sure I'll have more questions :)

I gotta admit, whether or not you intended the humor, that last line was pretty funny.

LOL!! No I didn't mean it and I actually had to read the line several times myself to find it when you quoted it.

<-- not afraid to own up to his mistakes either ;D

Robyn!!! "Crazee Carroll" Clapping hands :) :) :) Very nice job on the WIKI site... I still wished I lived down in SC because of what you put together I wish we here on the SC board could put together a pioneer type website as well to honor all of those jocks that made a lot of those stations what they are today... Great job kiddo!!! CC1
