More Sporting News Cuts?

What does everyone make of the new cuts? Where do these guys land?

From BenMaller dot com..
Biggsy exits Sporting News Radio
Jeff Biggs, a Los Angeles sports talk radio vet, was dumped by struggling Sporting News Radio. Biggs, a respected anchor and host, has worked at all the LA sports talk stations, traveling the Lakers & Dodgers beats during the course of his career. SNR also whacked Patrick Cortes who moved with the network from Chicago a year ago. -- FoxSports.com

Interestingly enough, I believe Larry "Sha-la-la-la-lo" Brown was doing updates Wednesday night during Todd Wright's show...

I would cut and paste the story but Larry left for SNR last week. I believe his last show was two Fridays ago at FSR. His webiste has the details on page two of LarryBrownSports dot com.

Who are they going to replace them with? Also, what happened to Dave Smith? I've been hearing David Stein in the mornings.
They let Dave Smith go as well. His contract was up the first week of January and they did not renew. They are currently running a replay of David Stein from 6 to 9 am EST. Seems odd not to have some kind of a live morning show, huh? SNR has the best personalities in my opinion, but the operation seems pretty Mickey Mouse.

Apparently from looking at the SNR website, they've hired the Two Live Stews. Nice to see all that gravy training they did on "Cold Pizza" after that whole Vick debacle went down landed them somewhere greater than local Atlanta radio...

I think there is too much sports radio, I wish ESPN would get smart and cut most of the ESPN radio roster. Freddie Coleman, Amy Lawrence, Scott Van Pelt, and Stephen A.

SNR has pretty much gutted everything in 08: PD, Affiliates director, Marketting people, Dave Smith, the highest paid update guys(Biggs and Cortez) Bruno, and probably Todd Wright soon since he's not on the Super Bowl schedule. How do they stay in business? The 2 Live Stews and Tim Brando?

Never have these words been uttered together in a structured sentence........"the highest paid updated guys"..............and by the way...Dave Smith (as entertaining as he was) had a grand total of 3 affiliates when he was let go by the network. Dont jump to conclusions.

I've listened to Dave Smith here in Los Angeles going back to when he worked at a local lower-powered FM sports station that crashed and burned over ten years ago. After that, he went to KXTA (whose sports format is part of the current incarnation of KLAC), and later joined the former West Coast flagship of Sporting News Radio, KMPC. He can be pretty entertaining at times, but like Jim Rome, Smith can be repetitive. I pretty much figured once SNR killed off KMPC, Dave's days were numbered. Best of luck to him.
