More Sports & Less Rock in Cape May

I just read that 95.9 WOSC (Bethany Beach, DE) also known as "96 Rock" has changed to ESPN Radio as "The Sports Animal".....So now you can hear most of the same shows that are on 97.3 WENJ-FM on 95.9 whos signal is pretty strong in southern Cape May County even though they target the OC/MD market........They will also carry Orioles baseball

Throughout the many years of my trips to Cape May, I have listened to rock music on: 93.5, 94.7, 95.9, 98.7, 100.7, 102.7, 103.5, 103.7, 106.7.....Today all we have now are 93.5, 100.7, 103.5 & 103.7....I am not putting 102.7 on the list since they are moving north, will lose its Cape May coverage, and change formats......I also listened to 98.1 WOCM at times but since the sign on of the translator on 97.9, it's only listenable at Cape May Point.

As an Eastern Shore resident I wondered why the flip to sports for 95.9 as well GSP. It might be cheaper to operate, that's all I can figure out. We can hear 97.3 from NJ and WJZ Fm from Baltimore loud and clear for Sports. It's an odd market here in that they offer a large variety of music. And not bad stations either. I would almost wonder why Clear Channel didn't turn 95.9 into a Classic Country station to coincide with sister station Froggy 99.9. They could have gained some share from Cat Country and the country station on 107.7. We shall see, if my memory serves me right the 95.9 signal has always struggled to find it's way.

Re: More Sports & Less (Not Exactly) Rock in Cape May

Not a flip but a programming choice...93.1 WEZW is now carrying the Phillies, simulcast with WCMC and WMID. There may be some kinks to work out as today in Ocean City they sounded a bit distorted and low on volume (and WCMC sounded like they were on seriously reduced power, while WMID was fine).
