More Sweet Relief...WLS

I get to northern Indiana once a month & yesterday mid-morning it was noted that WLS has turned off their IBOC noise machine...heard a trace of 880 from Columbus,OH within 65 miles of Chicago. There was even some sideband splatter on 880 indicating that the fidelity was also improved back to 10khz. Hope this is a conscious decision & not just a backup transmitter while the main one is repaired.

Did WLS had its IBOC noise machine on only during the day?

Here in northern VA WTEM in DC had its IBOC off for a little bit during daytime; I have heard WLEE 990 in Richmond about 80 miles away (1 kw non-directional) and WKCI 970 Waynesboro, VA about 90 miles (5kW), both a bit listenable. Then suddenly the IBOC went back on and those 2 stations disappeared in the hiss and I could hardly hear them when I null out the hiss with the loop antenna. WTEM sounded a bit better when its IBOC was off.
