More Than A Feeling

Sunday morning I turned on WGPA to get away from the horrible sound of the FM Airwaves and sure enough the first song I stumbled onto was "More Than A Feeling."

You gotta be kidding, right? That song is all over The Hawk and WZZO. Believe me I know because at my job the only two stations that have ever existed are WZZO and The Hawk. God forbid anyone touches those radios.

Anyway, I turned the radio off Sunday morning when I heard that song because I knew that I would hear it by 9:00 AM Monday morning, as I do every Monday on one (if not both) of those two stations.

And sure enough, at 8:09 AM Monday morning with only a couple of sips of coffee in me, the girl in the next office was jamming to "More Than A Feeling" on The Hawk. I can't take it with that music, it's the most mind-numbing form of music I've ever heard.

But what is it with "More Than A Feeling" every Monday morning in the eight o clock hour on the radio? I've been keeping track since Valentine's Day because that's around the time I noticed the Monday morning trend with that song, and without fail I hear that song by 9:00 A.M.

I have a buddy that's working on a couple of jammers for me. He says that I can hook them up to a 12 Volt Battery and keep them in the trunk of my car and jam the 99.9 and 95.1 frequencies with static up to an approximate 100 foot radius (perfectly legal). Considering I park right by the front window of our office building it shouldn't be a problem Lol.

I hope he gets them done by this weekend so I can have some peace at work next Monday.

you're joking right? wow, nassau can do no wrong with you. lol the best station in the lehigh valley? it's the same brand of 200 songs with a different label on it. lehigh valley radio is a losing cause. WGPA may be silly, but at least it's a little different.

As you can see Boston was not played.

As I can see Boston wasn't played huh? So obviously I made up the whole thing. Well let's see.

1) Your log ends at 9:30 AM
2) Morning ends at 11:59 AM
3) I turned on the radio at approximately 11:30 AM.

4) I remember distinctly adjusting the wide-band dial on my Grundig to accomodate for the inferior sound quality of music on standard broadcast AM radio for the approximate 30 seconds I listened to the song.

5) Since I don't listen to FM on my Grundig, which other AM station in the Lehigh Valley could possibly be playing Boston on a Sunday morning? 790, 1320, 1470? Answer: None of the above.

6) I remember thinking how strange it was for me to hear Boston on a digital frequency that read "1100" instead of a digital frequency with a "dot" such as 95.1 or 99.9, etc.

I've said enough. It was Boston, it was WGPA whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

I have no idea why Jolly Joe Timmer would be playing Boston during his polka program which airs from 9:30 to 12.

Well either can I. One of two things happened. Either he left early or it was 12:30 instead of 11:30. By my own admittance, I think I have a clock or two around the house that has yet to "spring ahead."

Although I still think it was 11:30 because I don't usually listen to the station til after 12:00 PM but on this occasion I happened to turn it on early (or so I thought) and I remember thinking it was strange to hear music before noon. But again, it could have been the whole time change thing.

But it was definitely WGPA and it was definitely Boston. Thanks for posting the log. Do you work there?

You probably were listening at 12:30. Boston is something that Jeff Dean would play. He is kind of a 70's guy.

I-78, the fact that the bone just so happens to be nassau owned, has nothing to do with why their the valleys best rock station... the hawk has the same 100 songs in rotation everyday (which is weird because 97.5 the hawk was a GREAT station,l and so is 105.7 The Hawk that you can get in lower bucks county) 95.1 BLOWS... they call thgemselves a rock satatioon when its just the same 20 classics mixed in with the 10 most boring modern rock tracks and maybe 1 or 2 real heavy rock songs. zzo ignores tool, soad, most disturbed, etc... and besides their owned by clearchannel....what can that possibly tell you... providing the only thing good that evder came out of cc is WRFF (which happens to be doing very well EVERYWHERE it can be received... including some of the areas 70 miles from its transmitter...like parts of schuylkill county.) the bone sounds different... its heavier...and they still p[lay ther classics, but not to heavy on them... they got all the new rock as well... not just 2 out of every new somes that come out... the bones only problem is their weaker signal....but somehow they are probably still beatine zzo (which reminds me...are they still beating zzo in the ratings?) all that really counts i guess is that the bone and ZZO's "Local" coverage is the same. also, the bone needs to get rid of nickleback... even though they dont play the hell out of it like zzo does.
