More Tuscaloosa Changes: The Return of WACT

After a five month hiatus, Clear Channel has dropped the WENN calls on 1420 and gone back to WACT. Just found this online sort of by accident doing a search for Tuscaloosa on radio-locator.com. AM 1420 was listed as WACT, and I thought that I had seen the calls updated to WENN a while back on the site. So...I did a little research on the FCC database, and the WACT calls have indeed returned as of last week (Feb 25). A search on the database for both AM and FM stations revealed no records for "WENN" (I couldn't find the WENN calls doing a TV query either, either). Looks as though CC might not have been holding the WENN calls to place elsewhere after all.

They've also dropped "The Tusk" and sports for "News Radio 1420" and a news/talk format featuring the midday repeat of Rick and Bubba, plus Michael Savage, Clark Howard, and Phil Hendrie

According to their website, WACT is also simulcasting/sharing WERC shows in the mornings and the afternoons--both the Steve & Leah show from 6-11am and Dominck Brascia from 2-6pm. That's more than ten hours. And a second run of Rick & Bubba in T-town? Smells like to-the-bone budget cuts. :-\
