MORE WEIRDNESS FROM STAR-94's ("OFF") WEEKEND................

YIKES!!! EVERYONE RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!! STAR-94 IS PLAYING LOS DEL RIO'S "MACARENA"!! (SAT - 9:19pm)

And they're serious! DJ was laughing along joyfully and even did that fancy little into-looping thing to make it longer so that he could "shotgun" his voice....(RHYTHMICALLY) to meet the "post" (vocals) of the da*m song!

(DJ to beat of macarena)
..."bum...bum...bum...pa-bum-pa.....ON STAR NINE--TEE--FOUR!"

PLEASE..... Cheesy Cheesy

Any thoughts?

Ooooooo ..... out of the :50 stopset with some Jams circa 1990s jingle and into Right Said Fred - "I'm Too Sexy".

Next song Bon Jovi "You Give Love A Bad Name".

What's one of the freebee websites that monitors airplay?

now another right-turn .... Star is definitely in 80s hotmix mode this evening. And either a live or voicetracked Tripp West sounds like he is having too much fun.

I guess everyone would rather listen to "Little Wonders" by Matchbox 20 and All Saints "Never Ever" on Snooze 100 at 99.7 on their biggerer, clearerer, morer powerfuler signal.

Earlier they were playing "Smells Like Teen Spirit"--someone ping Inside Your Head and tell him there's a rumor going around that Star 94 is flipping to alt (that was a joke--please don't try this at home).

I love what they are playing this weekend--I love 80s, even the cheese--but it makes zero sense for Star unless it's a stunt leading into a flip. And even then, it would be probably one of the worst stunts ever done. The whole idea behind a stunt is to build up interest, not weird people out. And I wouldn't stunt to flip from CHR to, say, some flavor of AC. That's not a flip.

Heck, maybe they're going back to the 94Q "lite AOR" days.

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

B98.5 plays Los Del Rio's "Macarena" on several of their theme weekends...and they also play George Michael's "Monkey" and Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" as well (they use their regular imaging...refering to the "Macarena" and dance music as "Soft Rock").

Star is clearing going after B98.5 on this one. One wonders if this is a test of a forthcoming "Lite 94.1" after they drive away their last listeners to Q100 (which apparently they are telling their listeners to go).

maybe they will flip on Sept 2nd

*keeps fingers crossed*

and you people think Jan Jefferies is an idiot. Someone at Star must have seriously lost it. Congrats to Jan and Cumulus, great job not being crazy and all.

<ding!> Correct!

Star blinked. Q won.

Congrats to Jan, Gary, Rob and the Cumulus crew.

Star went overboard...plain and simple..chased away the audience their chasing..the idea is good, but in moderation..4 days strait of throwback/oldschool/80's/90's is too much
