Morning DX's

Thursday morning was filled with distant stations: 105.3 with a country format, 103.5 in Austin, 101.9 Q San Antonio 101.5 in Baton Rouge!, 101.3 C101 Corpus Christi, 99.5 Gator Lake Charles, 97.3 KJ97 San Antonio, 96.1 country station in Louisiana, 94.9 The Works Laredo?, 98.5 KLUX Corpus Christi. Picked up stations along I-45 by League City.

I actually didnt have much to do so I wrote some of them down I was in The Heights in houston.

KQXY-FM - Q 94 94.1 FM Beaumont, TX
WWOZ 90.7 FM
UNKNOWN 106.1 FM HAD A ROCK FORMAT
KKMY-FM 104.5 FM MIX 104 FROM BEAUMONT TX EVEN THE RDS SAID IT CLEAR MIX 104.5 FM
KBPA 103.5 FM BOB FM
KMKS 102.5 FM HOT COUNTRY and at moments I heard spanish commercials in the back ground for a dance but could listen where it came from. It was not none of the local spanish stations.
UNKNOWN 101.9 FM WAS A SPANISH STATION FROM BRYAN TX
UNKNOWN 101.5 FM DIGITAL FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE VALLEY IT WAS REAL CLEAR WITH NO STATIC
KSAB 99.9 FM TEJANO FROM CORPUS CRISTI
KKPS 99.5 FM TEJANO FROM THE VALLEY
UNKNOW 98.7 FM ROCK,,,,
KACC 89.7 FM ROCK

105.3 is KTWL/Hempstead with the country format, 101.9 is KTZR from Bryan/College Station, 98.7 most likely was playing a rock song, but it is actually KXTN/Victoria "98.7 Jack FM". 106.1's rock format was KIOC/Orange. This one's a regular to Houston, but tends to get hammered by co channel KTEX running their country tunes. Surprised you caught C101 out of Corpus. Mega usually destroys anything on 101.3. I once got Rock 101.3 out of Louisiana one morning, but that was the one and only time. 94.9 The Works has become a regular catch around here within the last year. No KISS at 99.5? Gator kills it some days, but you got KKPS at 99.5? I wish I'd have caught it, as that would be my first logging of KKPS.

If there's a rock on 101.3 in LA, I might be wrong about C101. They were broadcasting W&J. I could be wrong. But yeah, that station came in clear in spite of Mega 101. I sure wish they would shut down Mega; I bet I could DX KONO if that happened.

I was out in New braunfels that morning with a doc's appointment in the Truck I was picking up 102.9 Da bomb, B104, Magic 95.5 was fighting with HotZ 95, Hot 95.7 was very clear, 96.5 the beach, 92.7 KBAY, 94.5 The buzz, Crock 1013, I was even picking up KLOL.

That's the pne. I believe the calls are KKGB. It carries W&J in the mornings. That's how I knew it wasn't C101 when I caught it.

It's not unusual in Spring for KFNC ESPN-97.5 FM to be bumped out by either KWTX in Waco (Happy-Crappy Rock) or KFTX in Kingwood-Corpus. Cumulus got an extension on the construction permit to move the KFNC tower to Mont Belvieu, a lot closer to Houston on the east side. The CP is good til 2012. Now that Calvin Murphy is gone, maybe I'll catch some of the late afternoon show.

I used to some nights be able to pick up 101.1 KLOL here in Austin and also KQUE 102.9 and Sunny 99.1 haven't tried lately

If you'll check again you'll see that the CP is for a community of license change only, from Beaumont to Mont Belvieu. It will have no effect on their coverage since they'll be using their existing site. What I don't know is why they had to file for an extension for something as simple as that, since there was nothing changed from the original application that was filed back in '06.

The WWOZ was: WWOZ is a listener-supported, non-commercial radio station for New Orleans and the surrounding community. Jazz, Blues, Latin, Cajun, Funk and more. Running at Effective Radiated Power 4000 Watts
