Morning Mess Producer Fired!!!!!

I guess the axe has fallen again.....this time the morning mess' producer is fired!

Don't know why!

His name is Mike Weiss ( pronounced Weese). Let me check tomorrow and see if that's true. He came from Indiana with the trio.

Sounding like budget cuts at Star 94. A GM with 40 years at a station, even with minimum cost of living raises end up at a very high figure. Ditto a 10 year PD. Producers for shows also are a favorite to cut right now. With so many people out of work, many will work for much less.

Maybe that would fix the Zakk Tyler Morning Show; fire the producer. Oh wait, there is no producer.

A bit awkward to have the morning show (the morning show that's supposed to turn around the station) lead run his own board.

Wonder if Marco hid a microphone in the office when it all went down? Then he could have another "pranks on the 20s"

clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap

Got a hold of Weiss a few secs ago. He said he couldn't say anything about why he's no longer at Star. I'll check some of my sources and see if anybody knows what happened.

Why does it matter? Radio's producer position, in many cases, ends up to be nothing more than someone to take the first bullet for a bad show performance. By definition a producer supervises and organizes a production. key word: supervises - or demonstrates authority. Does any one believe that TMM's producer had authority to keep the show on track? Or had the expertise, direction, etc. to effectively direct the show?

For perspective on what the role can be, check out The NPR Fresh Air interview with Ben Karlin - producer of the Daily Show, Co-producer of The Colbert report and former editor for The Onion.

Best case scenario - the producer and host know that by working together the audience gets a better product.

If my sources are true, Marco and the fired producers are family.

Scandal?

Doesn't Bert run his own board ? Is it a producer's job to run the board ? I thought it was more just producing segments and editing audio.
