Morning Radio Host and Station Owner Passes Away

Joe Gentile owner of WJJG and morning host for more than a decade has past away this morning. Gentile also owned car dealerships around Chicagobe and was known as the Barron of Barrington. Funeral will be held Saturday.

Visitation: Friday, October 14, 2011 from 3 -9 p.m.
Funeral: Saturday, October 15, 2011 Gathering at Funeral Home 9:00 a.m.
Church: St. Vincent Ferrer Church
Mass 10 a.m.
Interment: Queen of Heaven Mausoleum
 
Sorry to hear that news. He had a great outlook on life. I worked with him on the the all star shootout and he was always optimistic and upbeat.

He also put money into the Joe Gentile Center on the Loyola University campus where their home basketball games take place. Sorry to hear that he passed away just as new life was being breathed into his radio station.
 
I am a litttle stunned. Now we know why WJJG was off air today.
It was just a few weeks ago he was on the air and he sounded fine.
There will never be another quite like him.
The Veteran's Day ceremony over at Rosehill Cemetery will be different this year.
