Morning radio shows on TV

There are two morning radio shows that I can think of that are televised - Imus in the Morning on MSNBC and Mike & Mike in the Morning on ESPN2. Can you think of any others? And do these networks really need to show them on TV? Can they not find anything else when it comes to actual television programming? Don Imus does NOT belong on TV - just look at him!!

There are some local examples out there, too. The "Armstrong and Getty" show that's on KSTE in Sacramento and KNEW in Oakland is simulcast for an hour on WB affiliate KQCA 58 in Sacramento. WVNN 770 in Huntsville AL used to simulcast their morning show on a co-owned LPTV; don't know if they still do. Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN are simulcast on the YES network in afternoons.

Why do they do it? It's cheap long-form programming at hours when it's not worth spending $$$ on anything else. MSNBC doesn't want to put anything valuable up against Today, and who's watching ESPN2 at 7 AM? Beats infomercials, anyway...
______________

New Jersey 101.5's morning show, out of Trenton, NJ, used to be on CN8 (the Comcast Network) on Comcast system in NJ and in the Philly area.

Here in Lubbock TX, all of KJTV AM 950's loal talk shows are simulcast (video included) on TV sister station "FoxAccuweatherChannel 32." This includes their morning show which is local.

The Rick and Bubba Show from Birmingham's WYSF-94.5 is broadcast on TurnerSouth (well, at least until Newscorp decides what it wants to do with the station).

At least for a couple more weeks, they carry Rick & Bubba on Turner South.

Also, before Comcast took over AT&T's cable system in the Atlanta area, they had a channel called 'TV33'. For a local-access channel, it had SUPER production values. Anyway, they used to carry the morning show from WSB-AM.
______________

Of course YES carries WFAN's Mike and the Maddog for 5 1/2 hours almost every day. Also, here in Denver Altitude used to carry the last two hours of KKFN's afternoon drive show "Irv and Joe." In addition the local Comcast channel carries and hour of KRFX's morning show every day. And UPN 20 now has a weekly show called, "The KS 107.5 Morning Show on TV!."

Along these same lines, CET 5 (the GLORIFIED "entertainment" network that's exclusive to Comcast subscribers) carries "The Lewis & Floorwax Show" from the studios of Clear Channel-owned Classic Rocker KRFX 103.5 "The Fox".

Not sure if they carry it LIVE though as I've never seen it aired that way (That doesn't mean they don't either), but they do AT LEAST tape delay it for broadcast later that day.

CET BTW is Comcast Entertainment Television and here in Denver, it's home is on cable channel 5 (Where Showtime was before it was moved to the Digital channels). This channel is also used as the backup home on Comcast for the Altitude Sports & Entertainment Network during its coverage of the Nuggets and Avalanche on nights where there is a conflict.

Just my $.02 worth :D

Cheers :)

On WPFO (Fox 23) in Portland, ME, the "Fox Morning News" is broadcast on weekday mornings. It originates from news/talk station WLOB 1310/WLOB-FM 96.3.

For a month or two, a couple years ago, TVU (Christian Rock Video channel) carried a 30 minute TV show late at night, M-F, that was a condensed version of sister station RadioU's morning show called "The Riot" - IIRC the TV show had the same name.

I don't know why they dropped it - I'd have to guess it may have been too expensive and/or required too much volunteer time (which may be in short supply) to produce on an ongoing basis.

What's the opinion of A&G in the Sacramento area? I worked with Jack almost 20 years ago.

Back in '95, when KIRO=TV(Seattle) temporarily lost their CBS afilliation, they launched a local morning show called "7-Live". There was a daily segment called "On the Air" which featured Charlie & Ty(morning show hosts of KUBE-FM & KJR-FM). The hosts of "7-Live" would also be heard on those two radio stations(depending on whether Charlie & Ty were live on the air or in a commericlal break). I still have the video of a few of those segments(as well as audio from the FM stations)somewhere. This experiement lasted only about six months. It was interesting, though.
______________
