Morning Radio

What station do you listen to in the morning and why? What do you like about it? What do you dislike? I will start off buy saying I don't have a favorite, I'm pretty much all over the dial depending on what I'm looking for.

Do you listen for the traffic reports?....news?....funny chatter? The answers here might be interesting!

I find all of the Charlotte-area FM morning shows passe....

All of them have two main guys...who come across as cool and hip...the resident hottie and then one or two more guys for backup....

Generally, I don't listen to FM morning shows.

My close, personal friend does a no-nonsense show on WLON. I catch that and occasionally -- as The Muffin -- do guest appearances touting Groovy Tunes or www.lincolntribune.com.

Mainly, I listen to Keith Larson at 9 a.m. on WBT....LAMA!

Mornings in Charlotte... hum. I actually listen around but over the past year or so, I listen to Ace & TJ more than the others. I am in my mid 40's but like their real feel and they are entertaining to me even if 95.1 is not directed toward my age. I once listened mostly to WBT in the mornings but became unhappy with only hearing about 5 or 10 mins of actual news an hour. The rest is chat, commercials, and more commercials. That irritated me so I have tuned them away drastically. I listen to Magic 94 too as they have remained an enjoyable habit even from their 80's days last year. I also bounce thru 97.3, 104.7, 102.9, 92.7, 101.9 and 98.7, up from Greensboro when I can receive them. Not into Country, so not presets there. I have 99.7 on a preset, but I have tired of JB & B and no longer listen to them. Funny, as in the 80's they were #1 for me. On Friday mornings, I listen to upbeat music whenever I find it, 92.7, 94.1, 97.3, 98.7, 101.9, 102.9 . That can be tough in all of the mindless chatter from the perfectly assorted male/female morning crews.

Memories 1280 has a good community-oriented morning show. The owner hosts, Paul Harvey is at 8:30 weekdays, Mostly good music, prizes for answering ridiculously simple trivia questions ...

I tune to Mix 106 from time to time because once in a blue moon they might play a good song.

WFAE/Morning Edition. Can't deal with the others silly antics, hysterical fake laughing and celebrity gossip and WBT is out of the question.

Just curious, am I one of the few people that WBT really torments in the morning. Between Stacy Simms babbling about nothing and Al bragging about his new favorite restaurant where he ate for free and the 45 minutes of taped commercials, 10 minutes of live commercials and 5 minutes of news, it's hard to find a reason to tune in.

God bless the man who invented the FM transmitted for the iPod.
