Morning Sedition

Am I the only one who heard the meltdown between 0840 and 0856 EST? Granted, I was tuning into Stern to hear the Jackie Martling return, but during commercials AAR was having a fascinating collapse.

Calm down. Mark Meron and "Steve Gilmartin" were ending the show with a very rehearsed and very prepared bit. It was at 8:49, by the way.

If you noticed, the producers were prepared after the alleged "altercation" with some very, verry cheesy fill music.

The show this morning was some of the best stuff they've done; I'll miss them. Matter of fact, I'm thinking of stealing some of their best bits, characters and ideas for my own morning show.

"Melt-down", indeed!

Apparently so. What happened? Did they keep repeating old traffic reports again. Did the automation computer crash again with the result of 20 minutes of dead air? Did Mark Maron tell Mark Reilly what he really thought of him - before Maron left? Did somebody actually say something funny? Did they talk about something other than local New York delis? Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Cardinal Milfington Be With You, Sinner!

As I listened to the end of the show while driving to work, I was looking forward to the inevitable postings here talking about how the Martians had landed in New Jersey.

This week has been the best week of Morning Sedition in its entire 21-months, because its non-news and non-guest segments have focused more on the product of the show's very talented writers and less on Marc Maron improvising rants. AAR should have dedicated another year to developing what they had.

I can't imagine the new morning block being as good or as attractive to listeners (or to advertisers) as what AAR is tossing away in its effort to cut costs.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Cardinal Milfington Be With You, Sinner!

The final cutaway sounded phony, but the one prior, where they dumped in the middle of an argument and returned in the middle of conversation was awful. If that was scripted, they need better writers.

PS: Only listened cause Stern was in commercials!
