Morning Show on the Fan

I know most of you may not listen (or really care) but I feel that the new morning show on the Fan is not as good as the one Jagger hosted. Jagger made it a point to bring everyone into the conversation (I realize some of that may have been because he did not have a sports background) while when I'm listening to Shan that he is so full of ego for himself that RJ, Jasmine and Troy are only there to play off him. The show bothers me in a way I can't explain.

Rich

I think the whole station has been improving, numbers wise. Wouldn't suprise me if they over take the ticket very soon.

Now THAT is hilarious! I can now assume evening times is some guy that works for The Fan..

Their sports lounge had a huge grand opening with tons of media coverage and they have passed ESPN when everyone said they would be gone. Just you watch....

Two words explain the Fan's ratings windfall: "Cowboy games."

Isn't their afternoon drive beating GAC? That is according to Richie Whitt and he says they just signed 3 year contracts and received big bonuses. Plus the sports lounge, why would they spend so much money on something that was failing?

What's the point of taking away Cowboys from KRLD and Rangers from KESN for ratings? Isn't that why these stations bid for the rights?

"I'll tell ya, if you take away Dunham and Miller and The Hardline, KTCK would be lucky to crack the Top 25."

that's what the argument sounds like.

I just think they are doing more than the other stations and I think it will pay off. Time will tell I suppose? And why would Richie lie about his success when it could be easily disputed? But then again, I don't work in radio.

It could happen.

My radio is locked on the Courage Boys, but the rest of what the Ticket offers isn't any better than the fan. Bud and Dan are interchangeable with Two Live Jews, and the Hardline is a shadow of it's former self.

I think everthing after the Musers lives on legacy, but that doesn't last forever.

But the Ticket's regular programming (D&M/Hardline, etc) is what people tune into the Ticket for. Look at the ratings for KESN or KRLD-Fm during those sports seasons, and you see huge cume jumps that disappear after the season is over.

Which is why most agencies (used to) buy ad time based on 4 book averages. Because it eliminates those jumps. KRLD-FM is down in cume compared to last year, when they had the Rangers. Now KESN is way up in cume, because they have the Rangers.

I think the point is you get a better comparison of the 3 stations when you look at a years worth of ratings, rather than just when there's a lot of non-sports-radio fans tuning into the sports station for game broadcats.

You guys do realize that nobody cares about the ratings for Rangers or Cowboys games, right? Neither matter. Sports Radio PD's don't worry about 12+ or anything other than M 25-54 from 6a-7p. In those slots, The Fan is killing ESPN. RAGE is beating Galloway soundly. Josh/Elf are destroying Ben & Skin and National, Shan/RJ Choppy are neck and neck with Mike and Mike. Not sure any of them will ever catch the Ticket, although I think Josh/Elf can catch Norm someday, but ESPN is clearly on the downward. ESPN is boring and unoriginal, and despite Hardline not being as good as it was with Greggo, its still in my mind the best show in the market outside Musers.

I used to enjoy Jagger's show, but can't stand "New School", so I never listen to the Fan in the morning anymore. Occasionally I'll listen to Josh and Elf, and I do enjoy Rage but that's it. G-Bag Nation annoys me no end, and Arnie Spanner doesn't last five seconds on my radio.
