Simmer down. Deep breaths. Its just a Trend, not a book. An unweighted, rolling three phase average that includes the first month of the Fall book.
Monthly numbers vary wildly.

But its good to see KLUV going up.

Shoot, it's a MIRACLE. They've never had enough audience before to force them above #6. There's just not enough "I K-Love My Oldies" people out there. But maybe KEGL's demise DID help. Strangely, it didn't help its main competitor, KVIL, one bit. Could be a new trend here, or just a fluke. Maybe Sunny simply created more demand for oldies. Only the next Trends will tell. Maybe Ron should have left sooner, and Chuck should have reduced his schedule long ago, too. Could also be an escapist thing, too--today is too much to deal with, so people simply dive into something familiar and escape the pathetic economy and job market and other doom-and-gloom for a little while. I don't know.

Surprised that KFXR-1190 didn't pull anything. They also haven't marketed, either, and neither has sister station KMGS. I expect that the real estate market will be the only thing First Broadcasting advertises both stations in.

Agreed. Congrats to Jody and Johnathon. They are a decent morning show considering the corporate atmsopshere.Debbie and Chuck continue to do well, after that only Sandy seems to be in the same league with the A team.

I don't know if I'd call it a "miracle," but KLUV would not even be close to a #2 trend if Sunny was still around. KLUV has always taken care of the oldies market very well, (despite playing the same old tired songs every day). There is just nowhere else to go. Sunny was the alternative to KLUV and KVIL. What surprises me is not KLUV picking up Sunny's audience, but KVIL picking up just about nothing. They still sound tired and boring. Of course, they will be helped by their Christmas music this book, especially since Sunny's not here to do it too. Their new PD HAS to realize the station is on life support. The morning show is terrible, and the rest of the day is just "there." Let's see what January brings. So, the AC-oldies "after-Sunny party" is finally shaking out. KLUV will keep doing well and the Jody Loves Jody Show will continue to dominate with oldies, KVIL must make MAJOR changes if their going to survive, and Mix might as well start thinking about a format change. How long will Clear Channel let this mess go on? It looks like LaPreciosa is off to a good start. Just think how many bases CC would have covered if they were smart enough to put Spanish on 102.9 and let 97.1 keep eating away at the AC-oldies market. Talk about some revenue!

Has 98.7 even had this high a trend since the KNUS days?

KLUV had a 4.8 12+ in Summer 1989.
That's as close as it's been.
