Morning Shows...

Being a stay at home dad to our almost 1 year old, I have an opportunity to listen to the radio alot in the am. I do flip around and If I'm interested enough, I'll stay. I've listened to most, in no particular order: Fly, B95, Star 101, 100.9 The Bridge, WGY, The River, Talk 1300 and Buzz 1057.

I enjoy morning shows with more than 1 host, I like the banter. I like to know the weather forecast, what's going on in the news, topical stuff. Not crazy about contests that lasts 6 months, but that's business. As fas as the music, goes, I'd rather not hear the same song 3-4 times in a show. Again, being a former radio DJ, I understand formats. Unfortunately some songs are under a "heavy rotation" - ie: The G6 song...I was I could delete it from all stations that play it.

What say you? What morning shows do you like? Curious.

For the past couple of years, FLY's "Morning Rush" has been the best locally-produced morning show in the Albany market and WFLY's ratings have benefited from it. Clear Channel's Premium Choice Elvis Duran show heard in the Capital Region on KISS 102.3 is obviously good or CC wouldn't be syndicating it. And, of course, NPR's "Morning Edition" (heard on Chartock-controlled media in NY, VT & MA) has been consistently good and has actually improved in the past few years although most radio geeks who are primarily music fans don't think of it because ARBITRON doesn't list non-commercial stations in its publicly-distributed 12+ ratings for diary markets.
