With all the buzz about Planet being down in the mornings, maybe we can turn this into its own discussion.
Generally, can a good, quality "more music" morning show beat a competitive "talk" show? Do listeners go for that? I know among the pros, a lot of them look at music in the morning as filler, or as "giving up."
As a listener, I would disagree with this opinion.
If Planet had a music morning show again--the last one that stayed longer than a week or two was "The All Request Morning Show with Lisa and Chumley"--I definitely would listen.
I could not stand Bubba or the Monsters. But for the short time that Chasey played music before the Monsters were picked up, I turned on Planet in the morning.
In this age of young people playing their own CD's and mp3's (myself included), wouldn't a music-based show attract more people than a more polarizing talk show?
I like Chasey anyway. She talks about the music, talks about the station, and does not go out of her way to shock or offend anyone.
Given the choice, I would pick her to do mornings on Planet. It may not cause a ratings revolution, but I would think it could stand out among all the talkers, since there's so much of that on the dial already.
Or maybe Chasey and Woody? There's a thought.
