Morse Code on 530?

On Wednesday night, dxing from the Chicago area between 8 and 9:30 (and perhaps beyond), the dominant signal on 530 consisted of Morse code. Sounded like one of those long wave beacons, except that the signal was stronger and seemed to repeat at least four letters/digits over and over again. Unfortunately, I am no expert in Morse code and was unable to jot down the dots and dashes because I was outside.

I know it wasn't CIAO from Brampton, ON because I could hear them in the background. This signal was coming from either SSE or NNW of my location, based on the angle of the 'sweet spot' for my radio's ferrite bar. I also confirmed (by doing a band scan) that I was not picking up an image from some strong LW signal (as if there were any), nor was this signal repeated elsewhere on MW.

Very strange. Has anyone else heard this? Could it have been the Cuban (Radio Encyclopedia?) - having pulled programming for some reason?

it's a beacon for a small private airport in Manchester, TN (I think it's actually on 529)
been around for more than a year.

In Sarasota, I was in the process of ID'ing Radio Enciclopedia the other night & heard morse code in the background. The pitch of the morse tone was high enough that the narrow band car radio was barely letting it through. It had 3 letters & from memory, they might have been YJL, but not necessarily in that order...and I may have one or more letters wrong as I was unable to write them down at the time.

It's interesting because I've monitored 530 now and then and this was the first time I've ever heard morse code on that channel. And, it was a very strong signal! Given BOTJ's comments, you are probably right - the direction is about right, as is the report from Sarasota. It's just amazing what a strong signal that little beacon has because I normally get only a few beacons on LW and most are within 200 miles of me.

I've listened to that morse code on 530 am during the day in Chattanooga,It's a damn strong signal for a beacon!
