Most error filled newscasts

They must use a Commodore 64 for voice recognition, that's how bad it is!

None of the other morning shows in the market are that bad with the CC. It isn't even close. And one would expect that the scripted stuff would be fed into the computer in text.

The "NO CARRIER" is a signal to me that it's handled remotely, either via voice recognition, real-time transcription or whatever. (Trained seals get my vote.)

This topic could crash the site. There are so many "errors," especially in locally-produced newscasts and especially if you count syntax, poor writing, and as mentioned, chyron mistakes. After the shooting in Tucson AZ a few months ago, WIS-TV in Columbia SC, the dominant news station in the market, had their anchor reporting about the events of the day with a huge font to the side: "TRAGEDY IN TUSCON."
In the case of WIS, such mistakes happen on a daily basis, often several in a single newscast, and that doesn't even include gramatical mistakes and mispronunciations. This from a station which formerly would probably rather have left the air than have made such mistakes (and believe me, you never saw such sloppyness a few years ago). I believe the station's management now believes poor diction, and various mistakes, endears the station to the stereotypical South Carolinian. One lead anchor, Hannah Horne, acts like she just crawled out of the Congaree Swamp. WLTX, and even WOLO, are not near as "country."

I'll nominate the closed captioning service for WJW/8's "Fox 8 News In The Morning"...

Not all closed-captioning services are pefect (sic) ::) - even ESPN's. One time on "NFL Live," the Worldwide Leader listed Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo's name as - well, I'll just say the "R" was replaced by a different letter... I kid you not... There's stills of it somewhere on the Internet...

WFMY Greensboro's "Good Morning Show": invariably,
misspelled words on the crawls at the bottom of the
screen; either Rosemary Plybon or Tracey McCain will
introduce a story and the wrong picture comes up;
weather maps that don't come up and Ed Matthews
(or Leigh Brock or Grant Gilmore) has to guess what the
temperature is in a certain location or where a front is
that may affect our weather within a day or two.
