Most improved award

The new PD has, in my opinion, made the Point the most improved Jax station. It sounds fresh, clean and uncluttered. Unlike its Big Brother the Eagle, the most cluttered station I have ever heard. I'm surprised that they don't schedule two sweepers between songs.

Isn't this the first real PD the Point has had? I had the impression that Mark Bell was just the assistant PD and that corporate was calling the shots. I am glad that Atlanta is letting this new guy do his thing, it shows. Too bad Bell didn't have that opportunity!

So my most improved award goes to the Point, the least improved goes to the Eagle. Alot has been written about Kool, but atleast there is some element of surprise there and they have Tom Murphy!

Question of the day. The most improved and least improved station and why?

The Soup, stirring it up a little.

Got to agree with The Soup! Certainly the least improved, and most boring and predictable, is The Eagle. This station is fatiguing to listen to. But then, the PD is the same guy that helped to put Cool 96.9 out after its last year of misery. The Eagle will probably follow in Cool's footsteps within a year or so.

Kool has improved, but only slightly. The music is still a mess and the morning guy is way out of his league. It's still going to take quite a bit of work to make that station a competitor.

The Point does sound much better as long as they stay away from some of the unfamiliar album cuts that the previous PD thought would work. Well, guess what? They didn't work. Didn't you watch the trends that showed you were in serious trouble?

Gator may still get noticed as the year progresses. Kudos to the PD for getting the station out in public and getting it seen!

Soup - thanks for the validation. I've given kudos to the Point for the last few months. While on the subject of awards for the Point, I'd like to give a virtual pat on the back to Heather Shea who I think does a fantastic job during the request portion of her show.

Eagle quite frankly is annoying. I commented about their sweepers not too long ago - way too loud and they detract from the sound of the music. I can't listen long as I feel like I'm beat about the head with the format reminders virtually every few minutes. Apparently, keeping a "Yes" man in charge there takes priority over eveything else.

I can’t agree more, congratulations to the Gator PD and staff for taking a start up station through some confusion to getting it seen and stirring things up in Jacksonville.

I have to agree about Gator making a strong showing for the three months that it has been around in Jax. Jeff Davis (PD of Gator Country)has made a strong showing for the station and he has the know where to take this station to. Hey look at this way here has what Gator has done that QIK and Rooster have not fought back on yet (at least as I know of someone can correct me if they wish):

-Free Concert Series (I know Rooster brining in Phil..what his last name is but that is at Freebird Live and is that at the Beaches. Besides they will not get 10,000 fans to show up like Gator did. Beside Gator is promising more free concerts. Tells me next summer look for a big summer concert series to be at the Landing. I know that the concerts help the landing with its image and for Gator to get more listners to tune in and make the swithc from QIK and Rooster).

-7:00 Salute: What a great way to thank the military everyday for what they do, right?

-The 99.9 mintue music sweep (yes I know Rooster has a 107 mintue music sweep, but they have lost so many listners who cares, right?)

-less commericals during the day than QIK and Rooster (that is what people wanted the whole time out of CC, but got nowhere with it).

Hey Kool sounds a bit better with the imagining. I would say its improved somewhat since they added Tom Murphy to the line up. Heck I have some new music being added into the rotation of songs. Another music test?

Lets just see what happens

Mburg,

You are a Renda man the way my brother is a Ford man. I admire your passion. How is the website coming?

Great line about the "Yes" man in charge at the sweeper infested Eagle. A manager that does nothing but carry out orders is not a leader. I agree on the props for Heather too.
